Is Anyone Else Planning to Breastfeed?
Posted: 10-26-04 15:51pm

I definitely want to breastfeed my girl after she's born. I hear a lot of good things about breastfeeding, like it helps your baby to build an immune system against certain sicknesses so she wont get sick as often, she would have a higher iq and not only that I hear you loose weight by breastfeeding which is a definit plus in my book! Is anyone else planning to do this or has anyone breastfed before that knows what it is like?

I am definitely going to breastfeed....Not only because its healthy, but because I dont wanna have to pay for formula.

I see no point in paying for formula when your body is capable of making the real thing.

Only way I would not breastfeed is if something goes wrong, like some peoples milk never comes in. So yeah...As long as I am physically capable of breastfeeding I am going too.

Yea that was another reason is the expenses of formula it is way to expensive, why buy it when you have the real stuff right under your nose!

Yeah, I want to pump my milk into bottles though. Breastmilk is very good for your babies, why else do you think god had it included with the whole baby package Smile

Haha - yeah. I bought a breast pump and storage container things. That way I can leave nathaniel with my family while I work and stuff. And they wont have to give him formula.

I breastfeed and I love it! Ive saved so much on formula and its so good for baby! Its a wonderful bond too! Danica hasnt been sick yet (well I gave her formula once and she vomited from it cuz it was outdated but thats it) shes never had a ocld or nothing. Its wonderful to breastfeed!

Yeah! I'm gonna be a housemom, sitting at home all day taking care of tru, but I want mike to be involved too. He refuses to change diapers, so feeding would be a great way. And much better to use breastmilk than formula for that!

Im breastfeeding, and I plan on doing it til at least 6 months. Another good thing about breastfeeding is that you have an excuse to get online(i hardly have time between taking care of brooklyn and housework, not to mention my homeschooling, which I should really be doing) and have one free hand to type! Lol in fact im feeding her right now Laughing

alot of people give up on breastfeeding cuz it hurts pretty bad in the begining and sometimes it gets pretty frusterating, but if you have the will then you can do it. I had blisters that popped and they bled, and everytime I would feed her, it hurt so bad I had to bite my tongue. Just keep in mind, that the pain will soon be over, and its really worth it, by being the best you can give your baby, being free and simple(no bottles to prepare in the middle of the night), helping eye and brain developement, giving immunities to your baby, great bonding time, and helps you loose weight! I would say thats definetly worth a week of pain! Also, constipation, and dehydration is rare in breastfed babies, and I also heard that it makes colic less severe, or could possibly prevent it. I know theres a really big list of things, but these are what I could remember.

About pumping~
if you plan on pumping alot, I really suggest that you get an electric pump! I was planning on pumping every morning after the first morning feeding, and its such a pain in the butt with a manual pump, that I dont even like to pump when im just gonna go out for a bit. It takes forever, and your wrist gets so sore, it sometimes it so hard to get the milk flowing and such, and I have a good manual pump. I wish I would have just gotten the electric! It was only $10 more, but I thought I could just deal with the manual. Boy was I wrong!!
