No, amoxicillin is ok to take when pregnant you just have to let your doctor know that you might be pregnant first.

Maybe you miss read the info.

I was prescribed amoxicillin for a supposed urinary tract infection at 14 1/2 weeks pregnant.

Although I doubt any good doctor would prescribed you anti-biotics for a cold as a cold is a virus not a bacterial infection and therefore anti-biotics are useless against colds.

Maybe you don't have a cold and it is something else. Either way you need to go back to your doctor and get them to explain things properly cuz what you have said doesn't add up right.

Well I i don't know exactly what I have so that's why I called it a cold!! I've had this before and my Dr. Prescribed it to me and it went away, and actually after just taking it twice yesterday and once today, I feel a ton better!! Thanks for your concern though! It wasn't a cold, im just not sure what it was.
Ya, I did some research after I posted that and found out that it's not harmful. Thank you so much for putting my concerns to rest!! While I still don't think I am pregnant, there could always be that little chance. I'll know by next week!! Thank you so much!!

I had a urinary tract infection about a month ago and the doc prescribed me ampicillin, its a type of antibiotic just like amoxcillin and I was about 15 weeks pregnant then. I always thought you couldnt take antibiotics when you were pregnant but the doc said they wont hurt the baby as long as you take it when you are prescribed to it for a type of infection.

Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic that is considered safe during pregnancy and while breast-feeding. Completion of the full course of prescribed antibiotics is important to prevent re-infection. You should contact the health provider who prescribed the antibiotic and let them know you are pregnant. As a general rule, it is wise to avoid medication during early pregnancy when the fetus is developing, but it is always important to weigh the risks (minimal in this case) with the benefits (treating an infection which may complicate pregnancy). It is important to remember that antibiotic use alters the normal flora in the vagina, predisposing some women to yeast infections. Try eating yogurt daily and avoiding the use of soap in the vaginal area. Yeast infections can be treated with medication during pregnancy. It is important to discuss the antibiotic use and any concerns about vaginal infections with your obstetric health care provider at your first visit.
