neutropenia Posted: 11-24-08 00:15am
Hi
My daughter was diagnosed with
neutropenia this May, well officially in
October, It has been a long hard six
months. She has been tested for every
cancer and leukemia out there, plus all
and any rare blood disorders, and genetic
ones too. She had a bone marrow test done
last month and all the results on that
test as well as all the others were
normal. yea!!! We just started the
injection procedure this saturday. So far
we have done two and only have five more
left. The hope is that the injections
will boost her white count and neutrophils
and we will have a plan in place for when
she does become ill. I think the worst
part for us was the 6 months of not
knowing and figuring out how to explain
all this to her. She is just now twenty
but she is severely developmentally
delayed and going blind and her mental age
is that of a 5 year old. But thanks to
the staff at Stanford Hospital we have
managed to get her though this and she is
adjusting well. She does have the achey
bones but the tylenol seems to relieve
some of the pain, and warm baths seem to
help. I guess i am just putting this out
there and needed to say it all out loud.
Thanks
