Hi, im 19 yrs old & have been on here
before coz ive been worried bout symptoms
of ms. Last time I had symptoms I went
to neuro n mri came back clear (neuro told
me it was just stress) but I just have a
strange feeling bout it. I know ppl can
go for yrs undiagnosed even after
symptoms. I have had the following
symptoms recently:
- fatigue (has come n gone for a yr or 2)
- lose balance from standing still (but
not while walking)
- joint pain in neck most of the time
- lack of concentration
- fumbling of words lately (n last time I
had symptoms)
- depression (kinda comes n goes n I dont
take meds for it anymore)
- sore throat that comes n goes (not sure
if its a symptom)
- weak bladder (esp for my age)
- & the other day I was seeing black
spots (friend sed it was from getting up
to fast)
my aunty (on mums side) n dads cousin both
have ms which is the reason I stress about
it. My aunty had one of the most severe
cases n passed away 19 yrs ago.
I don't wanna look like a hypercondriac
(cant spell). Am I just stressing or do
I have a reason to? Plz help.
Lynda.
Ps sorry about the length

Once you get paranoid about having ms,
it's easy to find symptoms where there
might not be any, or where other causes
are more likely. Having said that, some
of what you describe would be consistent
with ms. On the other hand, there may be
some kind of other neurological problem,
eg particularly with the pain in your
neck.
Having close relatives with ms could mean
you are more susceptible. But this could
mean just a little bit affected, or it
could mean full-blown.
Stress isn't going to help, so you need to
take a bit of control over your life, and
enjoy it now. I have had only one bout of
symptoms associated with ms, although my
father had it extremely severely. Since
that episode almost a year ago, I have
been taking high strength vitamin d, as
well as other supplements such as
lecithin, flaxseed, vitamin b, etc. But
vitamin d deficiency has been shown to be
strongly associated with ms. There is
some thinking that those people
susceptible to ms don't process vitamin d
very well.
Whether or not you have ms, it's important
to enjoy life now.
