When I got pregnant, they never did any std/hiv tests on me. They had a question about it on the forum I filled out when I first got there, but never tested me for it, that I know of.

I am not pregnant anymore, but I don't know why I would get tested for hiv? Is there some sort of reason?

They tested me when I found out I was pregnant, they are supposed to so they can prevent giving it to your baby if you do have it... Just like alot of other things.

Yeah, I had to get tested for it with my first blood tests. They said its mandatory, even if u know u don't have it, u still have to do it just for their records.

They tested me for everything! They took like 6 viles of blood from me and did a pap smear. They are normally supposed to test you for things that are major like hiv and syphillis and such because these things are passed to the baby and are dangerous.

Oh with the first blood test they like, test everything!!! You hafta get a urine test with your blood test, and then for the blood test, they check ur iron levels, hiv, syphillis, protein, hmm what else... Oh and if ur rh positive or negative, ur blood type, if theres any traces of low white blood cells or red blood cells, and I think theres a few more. I cant remmeber but on my blood test sheet there were 13 things checked off! Then u go get the same test at about 28 weeks or 30 weeks.

Was it an option for everyone, did youhave to ask for it, or did they test you automatically?

Mike and I did std testing immediately before we got married, and neither one of us has ever slept with anyone else, so we don't have any reason to test.

they just do it automatically...Did they draw your blood at all?

Maybe they tested for it and just didnt tell you the results...Some doctors are gay like that. I got blood drawn a year ago to get tested for something and the doctor never called to give me my results...

And yeah, to answer your question - they did my tests at my 2nd appointment.

Michelle, the first time I went in they drew blood, maybe they did it and never told me, but they had told me about the other things they had tested for. I have no idea...I kind of angers me off, if they were suppose to, and didn't.

I guess you could assume that you dont have hiv because if you did, I think they would have told you. But yeah, that is annoying..
