panic attacks

panic attacks can be very frightening. People who suffer from this condition may feel their heart pounding in their chest and have trouble breathing, making them feel like they are going to die. This condition often appears seemingly out of nowhere and completely ruin ones life.

I have never had a panic attack, but suffer from GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) which is 24/7. And yes, it has consumed my life. I do not know what is causing it, but it is controlling my life as well as my family. I am on Buspar and Xanax and have been on numerous anti-depressants, nothing has helped. I am 46 years old and have always been mentally/physically healthy until two years ago. The symptoms started slowly and have progressively gotten worse. I have been to numeous doctors - nothing has helped! Please HELP!

I am sorry for what you are going through - believe me - I understand. As I said, I live with it 24/7. Shortness of breath, very weak, feeling of losing your mind, depression, and nothing helps. I am on xanax, buspar, and lexapro - none of which are helping. I am being referred to an endocrinologist - hopefully, he will help or at least rule out any kind of physical condition that could be causing this. Have you been to a doctor? Are you on any kind of medication for the panic attacks?
