I know cramping is common during pregnancy.. I've had mild cramping for the past week.. I wouldnt even call it cramping, its just like this wierd feeling....But this morning I woke up and I had these awfuuul cramps.. Like the kind I used to get right before I got my period..And in my back too..They're dulling down now, but I was just wondering is this normal?.. Did anyone have bad cramps like this? Im 11 weeks.

Here you go - I looked it up.

question: I am almost nine weeks pregnant. Over the past five weeks i've started getting painful abdominal cramps as well as pain in my lower back. I have also noticed a slight discharge. It's clear and kind of thin, with no color or odor. Is this normal?

answer: the pain you are experiencing may be ligament pain or spasm (a stretching, burning kind of pain in the left and/or right lower quadrant). This is normal in early pregnancy and as the uterus is better supported by the pelvic brim -- after about 20 weeks or so -- this should subside.

Back pain is probably the result of softening of the supporting ligaments and disks due to the elevation of progesterone. However, it could be related to bladder or kidney infection, so be sure you do not have an underlying urinary infection.

For the back pain, may I recommend elizabeth noble's book: "essential exercises for the childbearing year,". I would not give up exercise, but try those recommended in noble's book, which are back sparing. Walking is still fine, but running can be hard on the back. Pelvic rock, bridging (on the floor with knees bent and lifting the buttocks into air), mini-crunches with bent knees and lifting the head on exhalation are good. Posture and good body mechanics are important to remember. Avoid bending over and curving your back, especially when lifting. Keep the curve in your lower back and your shoulders back. "williams' exercises" are good, and most clinics have copies of these.
I would not worry about the discharge, as long as it does not cause discomfort or irritation or have an odor. It is most likely normal to the pregnancy.

I hope these problems soon resolve and you have a satisfying pregnancy. Good luck.

i had some .R.E.A.L.L.Y bad cramps right in the beginning too. I wouldnt worry about it...Unless it becomes regular. Discuss it with your doctor, he/she'll be able to tell you better as to what it is. Good luck!

Pregnancy can be a real pain in the belly, but these cramps are rarely a sign of a serious problem. When they are, they usually come with other symptoms. Carrying a baby puts a lot of pressure on muscles, ligaments, veins and the rest of your insides, so it's not surprising that you feel some discomfort, particularly in the midriff. Most of this can be eased by getting into a new position or finding a way to relax

the best thing to do with cramping is just to put your feet up and relax...Its completely normal from beginning of pregnancy to the end, so don't worry, you will be fine.
