The end of may I had a laminectomy, l5-s1,
and the sciatic "pain" was gone. I was
released by my neurosurgeon the beginning
of september since I was recovering nicely
and am probably at about 95%. No more
"pain" but I am experiencing back aches in
the area of the surgery when I sit too
much, walk too far, or try to lift too
much.
A few weeks ago I went to a business
luncheon and was seated next to a fellow
who told me he was a holistic
chiropractor. After he picked my brain
about my business for about a half hour, I
decided it was fair to ask him a few
questions about my back. I gave him the
short version of the sciatica, surgery and
recovery and he told me that it was too
bad that I hadn't met him before the
surgery that he was sure he could have
relieved the pain and I could have avoided
the surgery. I asked him if there was
anything he could do about the backaches
that I still have as a result of the
surgery and he said he was sure he could
fix it. (my family doctor and the
neurosurgeon have told me that it is just
a matter of time and strengthening of my
back muscles.) since that luncheon, he has
called and left a message and has sent me
a letter soliciting me as a patient. I
haven't asked my family doctor about him
yet.
What is a holistic chiropractor? I have
read many posts from people saying that
they have been to chiropractors, some with
good results, some with no or bad results.
What do the chiropractors do to you? I
have never looked into alternative
medicine before. I have to admit I became
very suspicious of this guy when he said
that he could have prevented the surgery
without even looking at the mri, just
based on a five minute conversation.
Should I even give this guy the time of
day?
