I would believe him and continue to do it just the way you are. Most massage therapists have studied many of the techniques over a long time to know how to concentrate on just one place in the back. You are probably doing a better job then them because you are doing his whole back and not too deep either. I know when my pt guy has him massage guy work on my back he goes so deep that I feel like puking because of all the lactic acid released into my bloodstream.

See,i like a good, deep, massage and have only found one person who is not afraid to go that deep. The lactic acid being released is a good thing, getting rid of the excess.Just be sure to drink lots of water to help flush it out.Get a massage book to help you with your technique, but if he likes it the way you do it,keep it up!Patty
