Anyone Had the Gas?
Posted: 11-01-04 01:28am

Where I live we don't have epidurals. We have either the nubane shot or the gas. I had the nubane shot with my sons birth, and it felt like I was giving birth drunk. Still hurt lots! So I wa thinking this time I would try the gas. But what does it feel like? Does it take the edge off and help you cope, or does it actually reduce pain levels?

I've had the gas.. It doesn't take any pain off (from my experience), just makes you feel high and somewhat happy. It helps you breath, without it, you'd be struggling. I hope I have hopefully answered your question..
But, goodluck with your delivery.. Don't be scared, its happening everyday..

Its a gas and air mixture, I had it on my first and didn't like it because I had the feeling of being drunk but as it was my first when they told me to take it I did but on my second he is only 2 weeks old so I pretty much still remember everything clear as day they told me to breathe in on the gas and air I did try but couldn't because it didnt go with me I wanted to be sain minded plus my body was telling me what to and everything happened automatically so my oppinion is try and keep yourself as normal with no pain relief and your body takes over my son was born as the midwife just about reached the top of my stairs she didnt even have gloves on lol but I swear I had it easy (very painful but its the same pain as when your high its just your to high to actually moan about it that much) mine I think was so easy because I had no pain relief and knew exactly what my body was trying to tell me

I don't know what i'd do if we didn't have epidurals, medical question shots that take the edge off, epidurals numb you from the waiste down!

I did have gas (nitrous oxide) with my first child as my only form of pain relief. It didnt help with the pain but it took my mind off it a bit in between the contractions.

I hate needles with a passion and the gas is awesome, I actually took the gas after I had my daughter l0l cause the buggers didnt freeze me to stitch me back up(they didnt freeze me because they thought with me going natural I could deal with it.).

The gas just makes you feel good although you still feel pain it just an out of space expierence....................Not really a pain relief! Try it it doesnt make u feel that drunk or anything more of your just happy...
