I Dont Know Whats Going On
Posted: 11-01-04 18:22pm

I don't know whats been happening, if I get up too quick I have what it feels like a blood rush to my head and I feel like I can't control it and I end up like falling and then realizing i'm on the floor or up against my bed. Then when I get up, I had a headache. It doesnt go on for to long, but it still hurts. Some times when I think it might happen, I lay back down but it stills worries me, why it happens everytime I get up fast. Is it just getting up to fast, or is there something wrong? Because it doesnt feel like it happens to everyone.

That sounds like a blood pressure issue.. I forget the name of the condition but it's when your body can't regulate your blood pressure fast enough and so when you stand up your blood pressure doesn't adjust and you get the dizziness. I get it as well. I have never gone to the doctor about it.. I just try to be aware of how fast I get up and what I am doing. If it continues to be real bothersome or starts to affect you in other ways you may want to go to the doctor to make sure there isn't something else going on. A change in bp can cause headaches.. So it sounds like you aren't in any danger. Just be aware of how you get up and you should be able to keep it under control.

I agree with the above totally - two other things though as you don't say your age or sex>> it could also be hormonal (& men have hormones too!!) so consider that - also keep a note of whether there's any particular food or drink that you have say 6-12 hours before.

Postural hypotension is something that can cause you to feel faint or dizzy when you get up too fast or standing still for too long. Some people have more issues with this than others. Different meds can have an effect on this also.

I have problems with this if I stand too long. If I am on decongestants or sick I am more prone to this...

So sorry this is going on. Have you talked it over with your doctor?
