Baby Has a Hard Time Sleeping Posted: 11-02-04 09:51am
Hi,
my son is 10 weeks old. It seems to
me that he would be able to sleep more at
night but he's constantly squirming trying
to push out gas or more. What can I do to
get rid of this discomfort and make him
more comfortable lying down to sleep?

Neither of my kids (girl & boy) slept
well - in fact they are still poor
sleepers (she's 16 & he's almost
10!!!!). That said, i'll give the usual
advice in case you haven't heard or read
it!!
Soft light, soft music (some people dind a
clicking clock great too - sounds like a
mother's heart beat to a new baby), warm
but not too warm , some recommend the baby
be firmly wrapped - both mine hated being
wrapped & fought till they got loose,
- in other words alot of it is individual
to the child. Feed the baby & make
sure that you really have gotten rid of
the wind (i thnk there's a thing you can
add to a formula that helps with gas -
it's too long ago for me to recall
precisely on that).
Routine is usually best - so whatever you
do - do the same every day/night (before
putting baby down) so that there's a sense
of safety & you also need to be
patient & keep doing this until it
works.
Good luck

Gas Drops Posted: 11-08-04 22:26pm
Hi, try some mylicon drops for the
gassiness. You can get them from any drug
store or food store. Warmth tends to help
their little bellies too. Good luck.

If hes gassy try the mylicon or try some
camimille tea.
Its a european thing that we used for
children that are consipated or gassy..
Rub some baby oil on their belly that can
sooth him or try a vibrating bouncing
seat.
Its had when children don't sleep.... Is
he colic by any chance?
