What Is the Best Bc Pill to Go On? Posted: 11-02-04 15:11pm
I recently met someone new and we have
decided to have sex. I want to go on the
pill and I was just wondering what is the
best pill that offers the best protection
out there? I got off the depo shot 6
months ago and I have decided that it's
not for me. Although, it did offer great
protection. Does anyone have any
suggestions for the pill?

Most combination pills offer the same %
protection (about 99.3 with perfect use),
the "mini-pill" is slightly lower, but
many women use it because it's a better
choice for them, and still have great
(safe) results. Make an appointment with
your doctor and (s)he will do a family
history and form that decide which pill to
perscribe for you.
Good luck

There are so many pills out there. It would
be hard to say which one is the best. They
all ,for the most part ,have good and bad
things about them. You may have to try a
few before you and your doc find one that
is right for your body.In the meantime, you
say that you are in a new relationship. Are
you both mutually exclusive(not sleeping
with others)????This is very
important-maybe more important than what
type of pill you should be on!I would want
to know that my new partner is healthy and
faithful before we had any skin-to-skin
contact!!That's just me-maybe i'm too
cautious, but I would want to know my
partner's sexual history before any sex
took place.A real romance killer,for
sure, but we are talking big,bad viruses
here.I know that a lot of you will say
that it's overkill, but if you have never
seen what hiv can and does do to a
person-you cannot imagine what an awful
thing it is.Just a little food for
thought-do with it what you want.Patty

I often wonder this also. I went on
orthotricyclene about 5 years ago cuz of
the acne ads (saying that its supposed to
help). Since then i've had ppl tell me
that all bc pills help with acne due to
the hormones that r in them. So I don't
know either, but I wish there was a site
or something that compared all of them.
I am currently on the the generic of
ortho. Cuz it costs less w/ my insurance.
