a Question About My Baby... Posted: 11-03-04 17:35pm
My son is 5 weeks old and already is
eating 5-6 oz in a feeding...4 just does
not fill him. Is this normal or do you
think we need to cut back...When we give
him just four he starts crying and crying
till he gets more.
Brennan made 1 week old today and he's
already downing 4 ounces and wants more!
I think it's perfectly fine. You have a
lil piggy!

Multiply your baby's weight times 2.5
ounces of formula
if your baby isn't eating any solids (and
he shouldn't be before 4 to 6 months of
age), the general rule of thumb for
formula amounts is 2.5 ounces per pound of
body weight. So if your baby weighs 6
pounds, he should consume about 15 ounces
of formula in a 24-hour period; if he
weighs 10 pounds, he should have 25 ounces
in a 24-hour period.
Keep in mind that these are general
guidelines; your pediatrician should
advise you about suitable amounts for your
baby as he grows.

My mum always told me that it's best to
let a baby eat until he/she is full. If
you don't, he/she could get sick and
that's bad! So, i'd think it's fine!
