ive been ttc for 6 months, and also have
been off bcp's for 6 months. I was due
for my period on 24/10/2004, ive had 2 neg
blood tests (quan), 5 very faint pos hpt's
and 4 neg hpt's. I have had af symptoms
and preg symptoms for about a week. Im
now 12 days late. Im seeing my doc again
on december 2nd. I have spoken to some
ladies who never got their pregnancy
confirmed till 7 weeks by bloods, and some
as late as 11-15weeks. I have also read
on a website that 10% of women take an
extra 2 weeks after their period was late
to trigger tests. Just wondering if there
is anyone in a similar situation or this
has happened to them before or they were
pregnant. I have always had 35 day cycles
and never missed my period before. Do you
still think I could be pregnant?
Thanks for any advice, netti :d

Could luck hun.
I'm on a 40 day cycle, so it can be kind
of tricky determining when you can test.
The sign that was the most obvious to me
that I was pregnant was that my breast
became so sore and big, very sentitive to
the touch, but I still waited until I
missed my period.
My last period had been on 9/22 and I was
expecting my next period 11/1 (you see
how far the dates are?.. That's because
i'm on a 40 day cycle, so even tho most
women would get their period around 10/22,
october for me was not even an option), if
I had tested in oct. The test would most
likely have came back negative, so I
tested on 11/2 and test came back
positive.
But anyway, good luck and hope all turns
out the way you want it to.

Thank you.
I know that feeling all to well. I
was ttc for over a year before it finally
happened.
What worked for me are the ovulation kits.
I was tracking my menstual cycles for
6 months and kept trying to conceive at
the wrong time. Most doctors assume
that you ovulate 14 days before your next
period, which isnt' so.
I had been doing that and had no luck.
If I didnt' get pregnant by dec. My
doc told me to come back and they will run
fertility tests on me and hubby, but I
said screw that, i'm not going to wait 3
more months. Like I said, I bought an
ovulation kit that had 7 days worth of
testing sticks.
I figured out that I was not running a
normal cycle (28days) instead I was on a
40day cycle, so the ovulation kits tells
you to count 23 days back from when you
are suppose to have your period, instead
of the usual 14 days that you get told.
I tested on oct. 14(23 days before my
next period), and omg, I was so surprised,
it came out positive, so I immediately
told hubby we need to go try and we did.
The kit tells you to keep testing for
the entire 7 days, and I did, but all the
following results were negative.
I was bummed out thinking that it wasn't
going to work, and that I missed my window
of opportunity. But I guess we made
it right in time cuz we are expecting,
like I mentioned earlier.
So here's my advice, if things don't work
out for you this month, (i'll say a little
pray for you that it will) try my
technique next month. It wont' hurt
much, the ovulation kit I think cost me
like $15 (was a no-name brand) and give it
a try.
If the kit only comes with 4 or 5 test
sticks, you may want to buy 2. When
you get it, calculate the day you should
ovulate and I advice you to start testing
2 days before that date. I mean, I
got lucky that I caught it that last day,
so to be on the safe side, test a little
early. One more important thing, tell
your hubby not to ejaculate for 2 days
before you start testing. That way he
has the maximum amount of sperm and
increase your chances of conceiving.
For instance, say your ovulation kit tells
you to
-start testing 12/14,
-instead start testing early, 12/12
-hubby shouldn't ejaculate from 12/10
until you have intercoarse on the 12/12
-if you take the test, and it's negative,
have sex anyway, sperm lives for 48hrs
- keep testing, until you get a positive
and once again, keep hubby from
ejaculating for at least a day in between,
unless... Your test comes back
positive, then I would suggest you have
sex right away.
Once you have sex, stay laying down for at
least 15-20minutes if you can, i've
noticed that if I stand up and walk
around, I tend to leak (and that's
precious sperm escaping).
Probably sounds gross, but i'm just trying
to help you.
Best of luck hun!! And i'll keep my
fingers crossed for you. Let me know
how it turns out. I'll be in and out
(no pun intended..Lol) of these forums
(since i've found another forum that i'm
more comfortable at) to check up on your
progress or if you have any questions.
Take care and relax, that was another
thing that was hurting me, I was stressing
too much.
