Hiyas.
I really hate the unknown, so I thought
i'd see if anyone has had moles removed.
I have one on my chest, one on my neck,
and one "blue" mole on my wrist. The
"blue" mole is a deeper mole, so that will
require stitches (ew and ow).
Not looking forward to any pain, and I am
in complete hysterics if I don't know
what's coming...
Note: when I had an ingrown toenail
removed it took extra anesthetic because
the four shots didn't all "take"... So
yeah I was full of tears and in a lot of
pain - I was a complete mess for somethign
that was really quite routine.

I've had 3 on my back removed. It's
painless and fast. But afterwards it's
painful. When the freezing wears off.
They freeze it. I recomment to pop some
tylenol or advil afterwards so it's less
painful. But its very bareable. Sleeping
can be a little tricky. Don't do front
and back at the same time. Make sure you
have a side to sleep on.

I recently had 4 really large moles
removed from my back and I am so glad I
did it. I went for my first visit and
had 2 removed from my lower back and about
4 months later had another two removed
from my upper back. It really wasn't
that bad...And I am deathly afraid of
hospitals...Needles....All of it! The
only crappy part was the needles he used
for the anesthetic, it stung for about 3
seconds and after that it was just
fine...You can't feel a thing!
Afterwards wasn't that bad either (i
barely felt any pain afterwards but I did
take tylenol just in case)...You just have
to keep them clean and go back to get the
stitches removed which is also nothing
painful at all. Good luck!!

I Removed My Own Mole..... Posted: 10-28-03 02:34am
About a month ago a small, dark brown mole
suddenly appeared on the inner surface of
my right forearm. (i have very few moles,
and no moles of that color anywhere on my
body, so was not happy about it. )
yesterday I froze the area with an ice
cube and removed the mole along with a
full-thickness, elliptical section of
skin, going with the grain of the skin to
minimize scarring. I used a new razor
blade. There was no pain whatsoever,
minimal bleeding & no swelling. I
pulled the edges together as tight as I
could with a bandaid...A staple or one or
two stitches would have been an
improvement, but I couldn't do that
one-handed.
Now the mole is preserved in alcohol...And
my problem is, where is a lab that will
look at my mole? After all, it might be
melanoma. *sigh* been looking for
something in my area on line for the past
hour.

Hi,
erm, a couple of things really... I have
a mole on my face, it is about 1cm away
from my mouth, and it is dark in color,
sprouts hairs and i've had it since I was
born, I have just turned 17, and I really
despise it, after years of bullying etc,
its really a blow to my self esteem.
Also, I have been shaving for about 8
months, (i'm a guy btw,lol) and my mole is
always getting in the way, I have just
about had it now, no matter how hard I try
not to, I always somehow manage to catch
it and cut it, it bleeds for about 7-8
minutes usually, I rinse it with luke-warm
water and compress it. I'm really worried
about it becoming nfected or cancerous, if
not because of shaving, in later life, so
recently, i've been putting some heavy
thought into getting it removed, I have
been looking at information about
procedures, and all say that I will have a
scar, will it be bad? Does the fact that
I have it so close to my mouth mean that
the scar will be worse? From what I have
read also, the procedure will invole
stitches because of the deepness of teh
mole, and that it wont be covered by the
nhs, do I have to go private? Will it
cost me much? Can it be cancerous without
me knowing it? My family has moles, my
grandad being black, I am quarter cast can
this attribute? But my family has had no
problems with their moles, could this
"luck" run out for me? I also have a mole
on my belly-button, one faint one on the
side of my foot, and one at the very top
of my waist, and other very small,
underskin ones too...

Chances are if you have had it all your
life then it's probably nothing to worry
about. I don't know how big it is...
But if it's not that big then they don't
have to go deep and you probably wouldn't
have to have stiches. I've had 3 removed
to check for cancer (they all came back
negative thankfully) and none required
stiches. It will leave a small scar, but
nothing that will stick out (at least not
after a few weeks of healing anyway).
You will definitely not be able to shave
the area for a week or two while it heals.
If you are concerned about it.. Start
with a consultation with a dermatologist.
They will be able to tell you more of how
they will remove it.

I have some small flat moles on my arm.
They seem totally benign. However, I
would like to remove them for cosmetic
reasons, as well as preventing them
possibly turning cancerous in the
future.
Can I freeze the mole myself? I recently
removed a couple of warts using a
successful product called wartner. Could
I use this on the moles safely?
Mole removal seems very expensive £100
per mole private. Is there anywhere I can
go cheaper, perhaps on the nhs in the
uk?

Hi im a new user and I have around 6 or 7
small flat moles on my face. It bugs me
because im very self conscious about it
and hurts my self esteem. I've seen some
laser treatments that can remove moles and
many other ways. I was wondering if
anyone had their mole removed for cosmetic
and not health reasons. I would really
like to have my moles removed on my face
without scarring. Appreciate it.

Hi ! I thought i'd reply to this topic as
I am quite the expert on moles as I had
one removed 3 days ago ! If any of you
are worried that you may have a mole that
looks abnormal you should get it checked
out. Check for darkness and roughness on
the moles - raised ones especially. The
one I had removed 3 days ago was on my
left arm, it had a very rough surface and
was slightly dark.
Although the doctor said this didn't look
cancerous he reffered me to a special
surgery. Once again, I was told it
didn't seem cancerous but I should have it
removed anyway to avoid any risk. (great
! I hated the mole anyway so why not get
it removed for free, haha!)
i went to the surgery, lay down on a comfy
table - and stretched my arm out on an arm
rest. I was then told I was about to be
injected to numb my arm - this stung
slightly. I hate needles, but I can
assure you it is nowhere near as bad as
you might think. Once this is complete
you lay still for a minute or two untill
you become numb. The surgeon then checks
if your numb by jabbing your arm with a
sharp instrument - once you confirm you
can't feel much he will continue.
The surgeon now cuts an elipse shape
around your mole which you can only
slightly feel - it feels like someone
gently hovering a compass over your skin,
not painful at all. Once this is
complete, they have to sew you back up !
Having the stitches in is nothing to worry
about - I wont lie, you might get a few
small pains when they first pull the
stitching, but it's nothing to worry about
- just like someone pinching you, nothing
at all !
Once you're stitched, they apply a water
proof dressing and send you on your way !
I should also mention that removing this
dressing plaster from my arm (i'm male so
i've got hairs! :p) hurt far more than
the operation it'self haha (no joke!!).
About 10 days afterwards you return to
your local surgery to have the stitches
taken out - I can't comment on this as my
stitches are still in. I suppose if
anyone is really interested I could take a
digital photo of my arm so you can see how
it will look. Let me know if anyone
wishes me to do this.
To anyone worrying about a mole - get it
checked out ! It's nothing to worry
about. Look on the bright side, you get
a great scar to show off with. I have
had a mole removed when I was younger too,
on the side of my chest - the scar looks
like a bug. I had it removed in 2000 so
I named it the millenium bug. :)

Don't cut them off with a knife ! That is
an extremely bad idea. Would you rather
have moles on your face or horrible scars
?
If you are really concerned about it, and
the bullying is bad, you should talk to
your parents about it and discuss the
possibility of them taking you to a
surgeon to get them removed. Just tell
your parents exactly how you feel and how
badly you want them to be removed, also
mention the fact your even considering
cutting them off with a knife, it may
startle them and kick start them into
doing something about it.

thread but I was doing a search on google
and found this site. I have two moles on
both my cheaks and they are not big but I
dont like them there. I sometimes get
called names at school(im 14,m,uk) I dont
like the thought of the kneedles and the
cutting but I found out about laser mole
removal. Can I get this free from the nhs

Yea I found this site in the exact same
way ;) I am not from the uk but if your
insurance type thing is anything like it
is here it probably will not cover
surgerys that are performed for cosmetic
reasons :? I too have facial
moles(one on my cheek which is flat and
the least of my worries, another under my
right eye which is flat and blue which id
liek to get rid of because of the way it
looks and the risk of cancer, and a large
raised one on my chin) and even though I
have them on most parts of my body the
ones on my face are the only ones that are
a real bother to me and have slowly cause
me to become more and more shy and self
concious over the years so I understand
your situation. Would anyone be able to
help me understand the process when you
are removing a raised mole on the face?

Hi i'm 18. You hate the right side of
your face and I hate the left. Weird huh?
I know exactly how you feel just thinking
about a doctor made me feel embarrased and
time flew and the years came and I was
still with the same ugly mole. Trust me I
was the same. Until one day I said to
myself that I didn't give a medical
question of what a doctor thought so I
went to see a doc and to my surprise he
started telling me stories of all the
people that came with moles problems, in
other words he was trying to tell me that
what I had wasnt that big of a deal to
him. The doctor used liquid nitrogen and
a lot of the pigment was removed. Liquid
nitrogen does not harm the sorrounding
skin "no scar" as many doctors tell you so
don't believe everything you hear out
there. Today I just came from a
dermatologist to see if she had laser but
she did not so I will keep on looking for
a laser treatment to remove the last
pigmentation that I have. Please don't
waist time because your mole can go deeper
and the laser will not penetrate deep
enough so right now while you young like
me, please go outthere and get treated.

ur the first person that I found that has
the same problem as me.

This is something I wrote to another forum
in january, decided to just copy and paste
it to inform others
For all my life i had a small mole on my
nose. Nobody ever said anything and not to
be conceited but im a pretty girl. But as
i live in florida, im exposed to a lot of
sun which over time darkened my mole
rather quickly. I then decided to look up
mole removal...i have seen such things as
using garlic and a needle to remove a
mole...i thought that was just obsurd! So
i decided to just take a chance and get it
surgically removed. I heard many rumors
and read many forums about people saying
the scar is horrible and dont do it. But i
thought to myself...i can cover a scar
with makeup...i cant do that to a big
black mole. So just a month and half ago
exactly i got the mole on my nose
surgically removed. I LOVE THE OUTCOME!!!
I am no longer wondering if the person
talking to me is looking at my mole. It
costed $300 and i actually went to a
cosmetic surgeon...i heard thats the way
to do it. I dont know if i just got lucky
or what but the scar is very very very
minimal...i dont even notice it after a
month and a half! I got 3-4 stitches- he
says he used the thinnest thread- mayb
that helped. either way, i wish i woulda
done it sooner...im 21 years old and a lot
more confident. if you have any ?'s about
the procedure that didnt hurt at all,
