Does anyone experience nocturnal
seizures?
2 years ago I feel asleep in my brother's
room and he witnessed me having my first
seizure. Since then, ive only had 2 more
seizures, all in my sleep. I wake up with
a bitten tongue, a horrible headache and a
feeling dizziness. Thats the only way I
can tell if ive had one, since I have no
memory of them.
I was just wondering if anyone has
seizures like these, and what their
experiences are like.

Hi there. Did you ever see a doctor,
preferably a nuerologist after these
events? I do have lots of experience with
a son and daughter who both have nocturnal
seizures.
Since yours are so far apart, sometimes
the eeg does not pick up the abnormality
right away unless you have one during that
test. Frustrating for sure....
I urge you to get this checked. There are
also sleep disorders that can mimic a
seizure so a sleep study can be a good
idea.....

Actually I have been to a neurologist who
put me on keppra.
Ive had so many tests done to fine tumors,
abnormalities, etc but never a sleep
study. What exactly happens during one?

My kids have each had one. They will put
lots of electrodes on you to monitor
breathing, o2 saturation, leg movement, 2
around your chest to monitor heart rate
and respiration, 2 under your nose for the
o2 info, between 10-20 electrodes (not as
extensive as an eeg usually but can pick
up some abnormal activity if it is there.)
you are told to sleep "normally" with all
that stuff on. It videos and has a mic in
the room to pick up if you snore etc. The
tech will watch from another room all
night. They can assess the info to see if
you reach all stages of sleep, have any
apnea events, etc....We were sent home
around 6 am....
