Hi everyone my name is tara. I'm 21 years old I have a two year old and a baby on the way due in feb. I originally found this site when searchign for a back pain forum ( I broke my back a year ago) but I also found this and it looks like this site is better than any other out there for help and support during pregnancy. I'm having a boy they think and my due date is feb 28 however I will have weekly ultrasounds the last two months and when my dr and I feel its safe they are going to take him early to avoid me going innto labor and causing more damage to my back.

I do have one question my daughter is 21/2 she will turn 3 in march so far she is excited and keeps asking when baby brother is going to be here. She gave her pacifier up so baby brother could have it and also potty trained so that baby brother could have her diapers. Smile do you guys think she will change? She has been really into her dolls for a long time and I will include her in as much of the babies care as I can to help her adjust is there anything I can do now to start preparing her for what the real changes will be when he is finally here?

Thank you guys in advance you guys seem like a great group from all the post I have read.

Hi, my daughter is 2 1/2 and will also turn 3 in mar (mar 6th) she has already went through this once, although i'm sure she thinks her little sister has always been here since she was only 14 mon old when #2 was born. Now I am due this mon (nov) with baby girl #3. I posted the names and stuff just now on the baby names.... I like the way she gave up the pacifier for her new brother (i could never get my girls to take those, I guess that is a good thing, but sometimes you wish they would!!) and that she potty trained for you for the same reason. I recently potty trained my oldest too, they learn fast at that age, don;t you think? I am glad I didn't try to push her to do it sooner, the only thing is she wears pull up to bed still, she'll have 2 nights on a row here and there that she will wake up with it dry, but never long enough for me to think she is ready to go without!! I really don't have any advice on how to help you to get her ready, sounds like you are doing good, just make sure that you take time out for her when the baby is born so she doesn;t feel rejected, and depending on how gentle she is you could sit right beside of her and let her hold the baby after the first wk, or if you are bottle feeding you hold the baby and let your daughter hold the bottle, I know rheana really likes to be involved with things, you can let her throw the diapers in the trash, put the diapers and wipes where she can reach them and she would probably even bring them to you when you need to change baby brother's diaper. Also get her to know when she needs to be quiet for her brother to get some sleep so he can grow strong like her and they can play together later on. Hope any of that helps. I think my youngest will be jealous of baby # 3, but rheana did fine when olivia was born.

Thank you for all your ideas on how to include her. At first I was going to breastfeed but I had alot of trouble with my daughter she just wouldn't do it and its looks like I will be facing major surgery within a few months of the baby being born so i'm going to bottle feed that ways she can help more. I can't wait to see how they interact!!

No problem, I can't breast feed either, I had reduction surgery in 2000, then had my first baby in 2002... The milk is there it is just too painful and takes too long for the babies to get enough, but I tried with both, but i'm not going to with # 3 it will be fun, my 2 1/2 yr old is already saying "my emma is kicking momma in hers belly?" and my 1 1/2 yr old rubs or pats (or hugs and kisses) my stomach and says emma, but I also caught her rubbing her own tummy saying the same thing!! Lol Wink

Lol my daughter does the same she likes to hug my tummy then she will cross her arms and say shes holding baby brother. We took her to the dr with us and she asked what we were doing and I told her we were going to see baby brother and when we were done she was so mad that we weren't bringing him home yet. Lol
