Is This Normal?!
Posted: 11-06-04 16:07pm

Ok, so yesterday I had a doctors appointment to get my annual check up and pap smear done. I totally hate pap smears because they feel funny and kinda hurt. Confused But anyways, I got there, they did their thing, and I went home (all in about 15 minutes). Well, when I got home and went to the bathroom, I noticed that there was brownish colored stuff on the toilet paper when I wiped (i know... Tmi... Sorry guys). I thought that it was just an aftermath of the pap smear. Well, when I woke up this morning, it was still there. It's almost like i'm spotting and i'm not supposed to get my period for another week!! What could this be? Is it normal? I mean, i've had other pap smears and it's never happened before! I'm just kinda worried. Any ideas would be helpful! Thanks!!!

I dont think its from the pap smear, maybe your just spotting before your period or maybe your about to start. I dunno but is there a possibility of pregnancy?

Minimal spotting after a pap smear is normal, a heavier discharge caused by vulvar infections or hpv should be treated. A common disbelief is that papanicolaou test during which a sample of tissue from the cervix is taken is that female reproductive organs can be damaged. This is totally wrong, as papanicolaou test is safe and can be performed even during pregnancy. Minimal spotting after a pap smear is normal, a heavier discharge caused by vulvar infections or hpv should be treated.

Um, my period isn't supposed to come for another week and beacuse i'm on the pill it's never off. And yes, there is a slim chance that I could be pregnant but there really isn't a chance that it's implantation bleeding because (if I am pregnant) i'd already be about 6 or 7 weeks along! I just don't know what it is!

You're probably just spotting from the pap smear.

Yeah, that happens to me every time I get a pap smear. It also happened to me at my ob visits late in my pregnancy whenever they checked my cervix.
