Hi all! I have had anxiety for 4 years
since I had a major surgery..........Then
my son was severely injured..........Then
my dad died. When dad passed, I puked
and felt very ill, had vertigo and felt
like I could jump out of my skin. At the
same time, my ear started popping. The
more it pops, the more anxiety I get. I
get this weird dizzy feeling go up the
back of my neck into my head then it goes
away. This happens when I am having
general anxiety or a full blown attack.
For the most part, when anxiety leaves me
alone for sometimes months at a time, the
dizziness goes away. My ears continue to
pop off and on though. I also have tmj on
that side which may or may not affect the
ear. Thanks for any info and please take
care of yourselves...........You are not
alone!

Re: My Ears Pop>>>anxiety! Posted: 12-02-04 07:05am
I have been feeling this way for 7 months
now. It started when I went to the Dr.
Last spring because I was feeling nauseas
and he found that I have gastritis. I
suffer from health related anxiety, i'm
afraid of disease and dieing. I have
been told that I have tmj also. I see
and ent and today I am seeing a tmj
specialist. I hope he can help. I
believe that this is all stress related.
I have cried for the past two days working
myself up because I have to go to the Dr.
One thing I did notice though, I didn't
sleep well last night probably because of
my fear. When I would wake up throughout
the night I found myslef clinching my
teeth. I do it and don't even realize
it. My head today on the right side
(same side as my tmj) has a tingling
feeling. I also get a feeling...The only
way I can explain it is it feels like when
your stomach drops going down a hill...I
get that feeling in my head. I believe
it is stress and tmj. I am hoping that
is what it is. I will keep you posted
since we have such similar symptoms. Do
you have problems with your ears? Mine
are full all the time....Everytime I
swallow it feels like my ears need to
pop...Ringing in the ears, etc. These
are all signs of tmj. I think the
presure from clinching my teeth as much as
I do causes my head to tingle/hurt on that
side.
I hope I helped some, it's always nice to
know someone else has the same symptoms as
you do.....Peace of mind that you are not
crazy!
Take care,
kelly

That sensation you feel in your head (like
how your stomach would feel going down a
hill) is exactly how I feel sometimes!
I've had an mri done of my brain and it
was normal. I also get dizzy. It's
frustrating when you know something is
wrong with you, but don't know what. I
also have tmj -- well, not officially
diagnosed, but both sides of my jaw pops
when I eat or yawn or whatever. I get
ringing in my ears, sharp pains down my
jaw bone and in the hinge of the bone, and
sometimes in my ear and down my neck. I
think it must be from the tmj. I don't
grit my teeth, but I do catch myself
pressing my teeth together in a strange
fashion -- starting from the back and
pressing down and rolling around the front
and pressing my bottom teeth to the back
of my front teeth and then to the back on
the other side in a big circle. I don't
even know i'm doing it and then I will
stop and catch myself.
I have health anxiety too and worry alot
about disease and dying. I'm currently
having chest pains (for 1 1/2 years) and
trying to discover what they are all
about. Ct scan of my chest in a couple
of weeks.

Hello,my anxiety started
a year ago. My throat tightens, my
mouth gets dry, buzzing gets louder in my
ears and I start getting realy
dizzy, nausious, my back gives out and feel
like im going to fall or pass out, I try
to focus but everything and everyone
around me seems to be moving faster and I
cant focus .(thats why I dont go to malls)
I didnt know it was anxiety until I kept
being ask, are you having problems?
Stress? Are you a nervous person? And
finnaly it hit me, doctors make me feel
this way.I had what I thought was a
menieres attack, room spinning, throwing
up and a lot of crying and the shakes, I
realy thought I was dying, the only thing
I had was motion sickness pills wich I
took and that just knocks me right out, so
that was a good thing. I was that way for
four days and in an out of sleep.Slept in
a sitting position and could not move my
head, when I was able to get out of bed on
my own it was to go to the emergency and
the doctor I saw told me to keep taking
the motion pills that it would pass,
oct-nov-dec passed and still the same. I
saw so many doctors and I knew they were
tired of seeing me, but I was sick and
tired of not knowing whats wrong with
me,and they did nothing to help. Finnaly
one of the doctors I saw in jan/04 told me
it could have been a case of
laberynthitis, some type of viral
infection in my ears, the vertigo was bad
and I was always nausious and dizzy. I
finnaly saw an ent in feb/04 and he sent
me for an mri in may/04 and he also
recommended a tmj specialist because by
then I had jaw and neck problems and could
not chew my food. The mri showed liquid
in my sinuses , not surprising I have
enviromental allergies and I have tmj. I
clench my teeth and have an over bite. I
wear a mouthguard at night and a lot
during the day. I get different types
of headaches, most are sinuses related or
on the temple. My ears always feel full
and I hear sounds.When I swallow or yahn I
hear a clicking sound. Sometimes my head
feels like im wearing a swimmers cap its
so tight, then its like pins and needles.
My jaw hurts all the time, I always feel
heat on the side of my face,in front of my
ears, then its starts to tingle. The
worse is when my neck gets tight and hurts
and then I get a tremor from the back of
my head down my back. I started physio
for my my neck and jaw on thursday,
allergy injections twice a weekand do
still have problems with the vertigo , I
do home treatments for the bppv. I still
get freeky when I go to the hospital or
see any doctors but im trying to find a
way to get through that. I dont like
taking meds.
Talking about it and knowing others have
the same problem helps me cope better.

Vertigo.. Ears Posted: 01-11-05 09:37am
I have vertigo also .. I try to keep the
antivert on hand in case, but I heard you
can take dramamine. Maybe that is what is
causing you the dizziness still...
Sounds like stress with the neck jaw and
back of head.. Get your blood pressure
checked, also you should have your sinuses
checked for allergies.. Sometimes they
can cause symtoms that you would not think
they could . You can have allergies in
the winter also . But definetly check the
pressure.. I find that I get worked up
about what is bothering me and it really
makes matters worse.. Almost like phantom
pain. Message boards sometimes can be the
worst thing because we self diagnose ..
But definetly get some excercise ..
,maybe yoga help you relax the body.

Anxiety And Ear Numbness Posted: 01-13-05 10:17am
Thank you all so much for the information
on anxiety. I do feel releived that
something is wrong. I keep worrying I am
having heart trouble since is very common
at a young age in my family. I have been
having anxiety since my grandmother passed
about 5 years ago. I could be driving
and start feeling dizziness and my ears
begin to pop and my face goes numb. If
driving I have to pull over real fast and
I am so dizzy that I am nausea but it goes
away in about 2 to 5 minutes.
I have noticed I was clinching my teeth
alot. But I am wearing braces now and
was hoping it was just tmj but, I am
getting my braces removed next month and I
am still experiencing this anxiety
feeling. If anyone has suggestions to
stop these symptoms I would be so grateful
the feeling is miserable and very scary.

If you worry about heart problems , go to
your dr and get an ekg and your blood
pressure checked. You may not have
anything wrong with you , but if you don't
get a drs ookaythen your mind still dwells
on it . Its worth the trip to the Dr.
Maybe they can give you a full physical
also . Tell them what you are feeling
regarding the anxiety . They may be able
to recommend something to take . Start
off with a low dose , and that may be all
you need. I know I didnt want to go on
meds , I am only taking 25 mg and so far I
feel a better,, our mind can be our worst
enemy , and clentching the teeth or tight
fists are a way we react to stress ..
Could be hormones . Don't self diagnose
.. We never diagnose ourselves with
something small . Good luck
