Q: Extreme Pressure......not Sure Why

I am in my 36-37th week and for the past week I have been getting this weird pressure down below, it is hard to explain but ill try.....It only hurts when I am laying down and trying to move or get up, going from sitting to standing. It literally takes me 3 minutes to roll over onto my other side at night when I am sleeping. And takes me 5 minutes to get up out of bed to use the bathroom. Once I am up, I cant really bend my legs, I have to walk extremely slow or else it will hurt. I thought it might have been muscles in my legs but it seems like it is in my pelvis but I dont understand why I all of a sudden started getting this pressure/pain. I told my dr about it but he wasnt worried. I was just curious if anyone else has experienced this toward the end of their pregnancy? I have not dropped yet so I really wouldnt relate it to the pressure of the baby's head engaged and ready to come out. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks, mel

Yes, a lot of women get that, it is more than likely your baby pushing on your cervix, but don't worry (s)he won't pop out!!! I had it with my second and with this one staring around the same time as you. Baby just kicking or punching at your cervix, sometimes you may even feel it in your bum, and that is really weird!!! ( do you have sudden sharp pains there that take your breath for a second? That is what it does to me also)

Yup I remember that pain I think everyone gets it I mean think about if you have got like a 6 lb baby pushing on your cervix so it's bound to cause some discomfort besides your body is also preparing for labor. Just try and relax and breathe throught the pain as said above.

So it's normal to feel that pain when you sleep because even if I put a pillow between my legs I still get that pain running down my leg. It's pretty annoying.

All I know is we are more suseptable (sp?!?!) to leg cramps and to keep them away drink plenty of water, if I stretch too hard when I wake up I get the worst cramps ever, I want to cutoff my leg!!! But it should be fine... Sorry how far along are you?

It sounds like s/he dropped. If this is your first, then i'm willing to bet that's all that's going on.

i never drop until after my water breaks, but I stil get those pains, if the baby likes to be in a certain position all the time and may be puching on a muscle that connects to theones hurting in your legs... It is so weird when it feels like emma is kicking me in my thigh!!! But I know she is just hitting a muscle, nerve or ligament that connects there, sometimes I can't stand up straight from it

I don't think she dropped though. I'm 29 weeks. I just get these pain when i'm sleeping. Like it starts from my back hip and it goes down my leg. It's so uncomfortable I have to put my leg over my boyfriend so I can feel better.

Sorry, sp.. That is probably just your sporatic ? Nerve. That is what makes mine worse because it is in the same area as the pulled muscle I got when we had to refuel the ship out in the gulf.

I have some what the same thing but mine are stemming from my broken back/pinched nerve. So for mine I have to opt not to sleep because nothin helps but for you you cold try a few things like amuscle rub. That helps mine temp and may offer enough releif for you to get to sleepp and alslo tyneol pm is safe to take my dr has me on two tabs of that and one pain pill a night and it helps some what. I would try the muscle rub though or a heating pad.
