Kia's Daily Update (again Squeamish Beware)

Well went back to hospital to have rest of staples taken out.
They took every other one out on thursday and the nurse had taken 4 more out this morning when she stopped and steri-stripped me together and called for my consultant.
He came and looked - removed steri-strips and I burst.

Quite literally I burst.

The rest of the staples had to come out (i think I have 4-5 left because they were so hard to get to and there was more pressing things going on.

It was just like a kettle of hot water being poured over my hips as my wound burst open and all the gunk flooded out and over the floor. So now I am packed with a seaweed based foam and padded up and on high dose anti-biotics. The oddest thing - it doesn't hurt, there is the odd twinge or sting feeling but it really doesn't hurt.

If the seaweed stuff doesn't help I have got to be anaethetised again and stitched this time - they will have to cut off the edges off the wound to get it heal together hopefully. So I am hoping on this seaweed stuff, means I have to go to hospital everyday and I will have to be re-admitted if no progress is made.
So send me lots of healing thoughts cuz I really can't face going back to stay in hospital again.

Himself had to come home and get me some clean clothes as the gunk soaked me, my clothes, the doctor couch, the floor and lots and lots of padding. Althought they assure me it won't do that again as now all the crap is out. I was such a wimp and cried and cried because I was so scared, I should have let them get the last couple of staples - I know it doesn't hurt but I was just so damn scared - I nearly squeezed himself's hand off.

That's the really odd thing it doesn't hurt - I don't know why but it doesn't.
Still they said now its all out that it shouldn't "flood" again. Here's hoping.

Ehhh nice! I'm really surprised they are letting you come home and arent keeping you at the hospital! Did they leave the incision open and just pack it? Or did they close it with the seaweed guaze in there?? Hopefully the antibiotics will clear up whatever infection it is that you have! Take care of yourself! And....Rest!

Do you need anything? Are you comfy? Getting enough sleep babe? How's "himself" treating you?

How many more doc visits do you have?

Have you set a balloon date?

Awww, kia, I would've cried too. I think this is one of those instances where you're allowed to do that.

Lauren cuz it burst they couldn't close it back up as the edges of the wound aren't nice and precise anymore (they might knock me out again at a later date and re cut and stitich Crying
or Very sad ).
They aren't happy about me not being in hospital but they also could see how much I wasn't getting better while there and that I am far happier at home.

Jess, I have unlimited doctors visits - until I am healed. At the moment they are daily visits as technically I am still in hospital Confused Just they are letting me be an "outpatient" as I am impatient lol

himself is being excellent, anything I want he does. It is hard for him and he is really trying but when it comes to the cats especially the litter tray he does struggle. While I am at home it is joint effort like cooking tea, we do it together and I do the bits I can and then ask him to do other bits like bend down and put a tray in the oven or get it out.
I tell him what needs to go in washing machine, he puts it in, I select washing powder and programme. - teamwork!!!

Plus he is happier knowing I have creature comforts like internet, tv, telephone, comfy chairs, fresh drinks, cats, etc while he has to work, rather than being sat depressed in a ward of sick people with only tepid tap water to drink.

It may not be nice to say but for the week I was in hospital he looked worse and worse each day, he had real bad lines on his face and definately wasn't looking after himself, but just a couple of days home and he started to relax the lines eased and he spruced up again.

I can definately say I have been lucky enough to find my soul mate and can see that we both need each other just as much we are a true team.
I don't know how to thank him enough for what he has done for me just by being there, for the strength I get from him.

You're so lucky to have found such a great man. If he looks bad when you're sick, then that definitely means he loves you. I think you're like me when it comes to marriage (not enthusiastic), but after everything you've been through together, do you ever consider it?

nope - never consider marriage.
We have a long term commitment to "still love each other even when we are old and decrepit and totally incapable, wrinkles and all" - how soppy can you get?
