I began to feel nausea out of nowhere
about 2 weeks ago, and 2 sundays ago I dry
heaved twice. My nausea seems to peak
during the wee morning hours. I have not
vomited at all, but the nausea is enough
to prevent me from eating. My appetite is
gone, and I can hardly eat at least once a
day...All i'm taking in is coffee and tea
and diet soda.
..........
Some have suggested anxiety or stress - I
find that plausible, but I also think it
could be due to my antibiotics (despite
that my doctor said they wouldn't cause
it), possibly endometriosis, or even a
stomach problem. I don't know what to
think anymore.
And [b]no./b] it is most definitely not
morning sickness I can guarantee
that 100%.
.........
I've been pumping myself full of
pepto-bismal and tums for the past 2
weeks, even overdosing at times, but it
does not help. The only thing that eases
my sick feeling is not eating.
......
Help?
I'd appreciate any help whatsoever.

Yes, I sost of do have a fear of vomiting;
and I always know when i'm going to throw
up for sure - I start getting chills, then
I practically have a seizure, and then I
throw up sometime afterwards.
...............
Well i've been off my antibiotics for over
2 weeks now, and i'm still nautious. The
strange thing about this nausea, though,
is it's not in my stomach; as weird as
this sounds, I feel the nausea under my
rib cage.
Also, I feel like there's something deep
in my throat that is just begging to come
up, but it won't. I guess you could say I
have a hairball
i haven't actually tossed my cookies yet,
and I have not dry heaved again. I'm not
worried about tiis - but it's really
getting on my nerves feeling that constant
bubble in my throat.
...........
But thanks for your words, crimson_smile.
I appreciate your support ^-^

I am having the same problem as you an di
also can barely brush my teeth it is so
bad. I dry heave the whole time I brush
and the only time I don't feel nauseous is
during lunch then after I go back to being
nauseous. I am learning to deal with it
and now the only time I notice it is when
I am not nauseous.

I tried taking dramamine (the motion
sickness drug) one day when I was really
really nauseaus and it helped a little
bit, it might be something worth taking
every now and then..

Sorry to say i'm still sick...The
"hairball" feeling is about the same
too.
But after trying something last night, I
am convinced that I am incapable of
vomiting. I do not have an eating
disorder, but I have a terrible "gag
reflex", and just for the sake of
experimentation, I tried to induce
vomiting by putting my fingers down my
throat. I did this five times in a row,
and I had tears running down my face
(which happens when I vomit), but all I
did was dry heave.
I have found that this "bubble in my
throat" feeling is temporarily relieved by
forced belching. It is strange, though,
because before I started getting sick and
I made myself belch, I would get that
disgusting acidic taste in my throat from
stomach fluid coming up, but that does nt
happen now, no matter how much I belch.
I wonder if maybe my esophagus is closing;
I don't know what would cause it to do
that. Could my sinus infection, assuming
I still have it, still be causing me to
feel this sick sensation??
...........
I'm sorry, but this sickness is terrible.
It does not prevent me from eating, but
it's annoying. Thanks everyone, for your
past advice. I appreciate any and all
help in my time of turmoil.

It sounds like it could possibly be some
sort of nauseating side effect of the
drainage of sinus infections or something,
but im no expert. I know what you mean
about the acidic belches. Have you ever
had an endoscope procedure done? My aunt
had one and they finally figured out why
she was sick all the time, she said its no
biggie. Anyways, best of luck with your
sickness.

Nausea Posted: 09-30-05 05:20am
I know what you are going through with the
constant nausea. I have been nauseated
for 2 months. I had my gallbladder
removed 1 month ago. Didn't help. I have
had an upper gi and they found mild
reflux. The nausea gets worse when I eat.
The only thing that works for me is
fenergan, but it makes me sleep. Hte only
thing that I can tell you is to try
staying away from foods that contain alot
of acid which will make the nausea worse.
Like tomatoes, pasta sauce, soda, some
citrus fruits. That has helped me some.
I'm a 21 year old female and for the past
seven years I have been experiencing
horrible nausea. The problem is it's
not in my stomach. I have such a hard
time getting people to understand how i'm
feeling. The nausea that I experience
is in my throat! The only thing that
seems to help is dramamine (over the
counter motion sickness medicine) and it
dosn't help for long. I went to the
doctor and told him about the nausea years
ago and he put me on me on paxil for
anxiety/depression. But all this time I
have yet to explained to him that the
nausea is not in my stomach, that it's in
my throat; until recently. I went to
the doctor two days ago and explained this
to him the proper way. He is now
sending me for an ultrasound and said it
may be galldisease, gallstones, or acid
reflux! Has anyone else experienced
this? What can I do?
Hi, I am new to the forum. I am having
horrible nausea and don't know why. I
went to my doctors yesterday, and today I
go for an ultrasound of the gallbladder.
He gave me protonix (in case it is acid
reflux), and that took away the burning
sensation, but the nausea is still there.
This started around 3 wks ago. I
thought I had the flu and ended up in the
er to be rehydrated because I couldn't
keep anything down. The symptoms went
away after a few days and then came back.
I then went to urgent care, where they
did blood work and found nothing. Again,
the symptoms went away and then came back.
This has happened several times since
then and now it is just constant nausea.
I have lost my appetite and am rapidly
losing weight (which isn't good for my
condition of thyroid cancer). I see my
doctor again on friday for the results of
the ultrasound and blood work. Does
anyone have any ideas of what this
possibly could be.

Just wondering if anyone has figured out
why they have been sick. I have been
sick for at least 6 weeks now. At first
I thought I just had the same flu some of
my relatives had, but mine never went
away. I started out being tired all the
time, no matter how much I slept. That
has finally passed, but now it's a
multitude of other symptoms, primarily
nausea. I feel like I am going to throw
up all the time. Nothing I try helps,
drinking more liquids, eating, not eating,
pepto, etc. I haven't thrown up yet, but
sometimes wish I would in hopes that the
constant nausea will go away. I know i'm
not pregnant, anemic, hypoglycemic, don't
have an eating disorder, or have celiac
disease (which you might want to look into
if you have all these stomach problems and
haven't yet) or anything else I can think
of. Like many of you, just terribly
irritated that it never goes away.
Please share what you know, thanks.

Hi guys - not sure if anyone is still
following this, it all seems so old now!
I found this by googling a problem I was
having with my throat - called "globus
hystericus". It is a non-threatening
tightening or dryness of the top area of
the throat, usually cause by stress,
anxiety or other psychological reactions.
This is the 'bubble' or 'gagging' feeling
that you are all experiencing. This is
not related to reflux or gastritis - it is
purely psychological and will pass. You
won't choke, throw anything up or stop
breathing.
As for other peoples complaints regarding
nausea - scaredbaka, if the nausea is
under your rib cage, that is actually your
stomach. Your intestines and vital
organs are lower down around your belly
button and below (what people typically
think is their 'stomach'). From reading
about your othe symptoms I would say
they're all anxiety related. High levels
of stress increase the production of
gastric acid in your stomach, which leads
to you feeling nauseous. The most
indicative factor should be that you are
dry wretching as opposed to vomiting food
or liquid - thus, it's all psychological.
It is your body's reaction to your own
fears.
I am currently on something similar to
ranitidine (can't remember the name of it)
which inhibits the pumping of excess
gastric acid into your stomach. This
helps if you do actually have a physical
condition such as gastritis or reflux (as
I do). For those that can't be
prescribed medication, antacids like
pepto-bismal or quick-eze will relieve
immediate symptoms temporarily. However
I suggest you all (a) start watching what
you eat, stick to bland, easy to digest,
non-fatty, non-spicy foods for a start and
(b) get some help regarding your anxiety
or stress because that's most likely what
is causing your nausea.
Whenever I am feeling really really sick,
I usually have a couple of antacids and
then focus on my breathing for a few
minutes and try to relax - it will pass.
Sucking hard lollies can also help you
relax when you feel the
gagging/bubble/hair ball sensation in your
throat.
Hope this helps feel free to im me
if you want to chat more.

i have been chroniccaly nauseous for THREE
YEARS! 2 weeks is nothing compared to
that. It coulkd very well be stress, it
is for me. I don't know how old you are
but I am a teenager and I have exactly the
same problem with pepto. I always take
it, almost like im addicted. Althoguh it
doesnt do much for me. Try Preggie Pops
(www.preggiepops.com) they help me a
little bit.

HI.
I know it's been a while but I was
wondering if Scaredbaka ever found out
what was wrong?
I'm feeling EXACTLY the same way. I've
been nauseated for 2 weeks now and i've
had blood work and a CT scan of my brain
done. They are both normal. This feels
like pregnancy...but i'm not pregnant. I
haven't puked but I constantly feel like I
could at any moment.
If anyone can help me with this, I would
be really happy to read your thoughts!

DID you ever find out what this was???? I
am feeling EXACTLY the same way ...it's
been 2 weeks and I'm sick of it.
Please help!
Hello, My 11 year old daughter has had
mild nausea with occasional vomiting for
several years but it happened rarely. In
the past 6 months it has become far more
common. In the last 3 months she is
nauseated 3-7 days per week, although
vomiting is not common. She has no other
symptoms (no pain, no dizziness, etc). We
have seen her pediatrician and are now
seeing a gastroenterologist. So far they
have tested for: brain tumors, sinus
obstruction, cortisol, hypoglycemia,
celiac, Helicobactor pylori. All were
negative. She is taking Protonix in case
it is acid reflux but it's not helping. We
are awaiting results of giardia (sp?) and
other parasite tests. If these last are
also negative, we don't know what's next.
Probably an endoscopy. We are struggling
with this as our daughter is starting to
become very upset that nothing is helping.
Any advice is appreciated.

I jumped on this "forum" bc I've been
experiencing the same thing--a very
intense naseating feeling that isn't
exactly in my stomach and comes and goes
at weird points of the day. It is
absolutely the strangest thing!! I find
myself not being hungry until 3pm, and
even then I have to force myself to eat. I
have a very stressful career, so I'm
banking on the fact that I never get
enough sleep and am always going crazy all
day long. I have found that a combination
of pepto and soda water help. Also,
bananas...they prevent reflux and coat the
lining of your esaphagus and stomach.
Also, I would limit your intake of
coffee...it burns holes into your
stomach!! Hope some of this helps...just
make sure to drink plenty of water and
keep at least something on your stomach...

Continued Nausea Posted: 10-04-07 21:14pm
Well, all the tests so far have been
negative on our daughter. She is scheduled
for an endoscopy and a Bravo pH probe test
next week. She is still nauseated all the
time, but tries to ignore it. It doesn't
matter if she has food in her stomach or
not, it's always there. She is not old
enough to drink coffee so we don't have to
worry about that. A few times each
day the nausea will worsen and she'll have
to stop what she's doing. We are hoping
one of these next tests will reveal
something that can be solved. Otherwise
they are going to recommend a psychiatrist
or something along those lines.
