Major Pms After Hysterectomy....is This Common? Posted: 11-09-04 19:35pm
Hello, my name is julie. I am 42 years
old and had a hysterectomy 6 weeks ago.
Great decision as far as all the female
problems are resolved. I have one ovary
left. I am feeling so disconnected with
family and friends and just really could
care less about anything. Is this normal
and will I get over it on my own or should
I see my doctor. I feel like I am in a
state of pms everyday. I used to feel
this way for a few days before my period
and I hated it! Could it be that my
hormones are all wacky? I would love to
hear from anyone that went through or is
going through the same thing. Thanks,
julie

Hi, i'm sorry to hear that your recovery
has been so rocky emotionally. It's rough
to go through the trauma of surgery and
then to have the additional problem of the
hormone upset. It feels like it will go
on forever.
It's possible that your hormones are still
finding their level.
After my hysterectomy I had a few episodes
where I felt like things were completely
out of my control. I knew it was the
hormones, that there was no rational
explanation for my fear, anger or sadness
at any particular moment but it still
didn't make those feelings go away.
You might want to check out a group called
hystersisters.Com, you'll find lots of
other women there who have been where you
are now (or have been).
