Hey guys, just a short little question I
have here. I'm in my second month of
taking orthotricyclin-lo, and take the
thing at about 7:00 each night. After a
bit of a panic moment tonight when I
realized 7 had come and gone and I had
forgotten my pill, I was wondering...What
exactly is "missing" a pill? Everything
i've found has just said to take it when
you remember, but after what point would
it actually be considered missing the
pill?
Granted it was 8:30 when I remembered, so
i'm figuring i'm ok for now (unless i'm
wrong? Only an hour and a half...One
wouldn't think that would make too much of
a difference. What can I say, i'm the
panicking type.) but i'm thinking about if
a similar thing happens in the future, so
i'll know if i'm still ok for the time
being or if i've screwed up.
Thank you much

You should be fine. I too am on ortho lo
and ive read/heard that there's like a 2
hour window you have in the time in taking
your pill. Just try not to do it too
often or it can mess up your menstural.
Dont worry though, I worry constantly
about taking my pill on time and pregnancy
and all that. Ive posted below an answer
to a question I asked an online gyno about
daylight savings time and how it would
mean I would be taking my pill an hour
different:
you do not have to take the pill at
exactly the same time each day. Even if
you take the pill between 3 pm and 5pm it
will not make a difference (whether we
change to daylignt savings time or not).
If you are late taking the pill, you may
have some spotting but it still will be
effective in preventing pregnancy.
Hope this helps.

Ah, the joys of excessive paranoia, haha.
I got a bit worried with that daylight
saving thing, too. I figured i'm ok this
time around...Just got to be a bit more
careful in the future perhaps, and
remember to take it instead of being like
"ok, need to finish drawing this
graph...Is my food in the toaster
burning?!" its been a crazy day, haha.
Thank you

I've always been told that u have 12 hours
to make up the pill u missed. However,
ortho low is new, so it could be diff.
With that....

And another question. This is probably a
result of the other night's issue. But
this morning I woke up and had a little
bit of random bleeding. Has something
gone wrong here, or am I still ok? It
wasn't enough to be my period, it was only
a little bit, and I had sex last night for
the first time in a few days.

Random breakthrough bleeding is normal,
especially when just starting out on birth
control. You're fine!

I agree with the breakthrough bleeding.
It can be a side effect of the pill.
Also, I have heard from a very reputable
source that there is a 3 hour margin in
taking your pill. Then, I guess after
that 3 hours, it would be classified as a
missed pill.
