Dear guide angel,
yes, I know exactly what you are talking
about, depression is an evil mental
condition that eats away at you from the
inside out. My husband and I have
suffered depression and anxiety most of
our lives. We are both fine now because
we are now on anti depressant medication.
How long have you felt this way ? Do you
work, have friends and family ? Have you
had any recent upsets in your life such as
a death in the family, loss of a job ?
When was the last time you remember being
reasonably contented with your life ?
There are many reasons people fall into a
depression, and when you do, it is
extremely hard to get out without some
help. The trouble is, when you are
depressed, help from someone else is the
last thing you want, you tend to push
others away, sometimes staying at home a
lot and even avoiding the phone and
answering the front door. This is
dangerous in that it can lead to other
phobias such as agrophobia if left for
long periods. Are you taking any
medication for your depression ? I guess
you need to start by answering some
questions to yourself, and figuring out
what it actually is that is making you
feel worthless and like you don't fit in
anywhere. Do you have a low self esteem ?
How do you feel about yourself, or what
do you think of yourself ? There are ways
of strengthening your self esteem, which
will then help you to gain your confidence
back and not feel so worthless.
Regards,

Depression... Posted: 10-17-03 18:34pm
Hi guide angel,
i'm sorry to hear about your great
grandfather. The loss of a close family
member is a very tragic event in anyones
life. Losing my grandparents is something
I think about quite a bit now that they
are so old, our whole family is very
close, and I just know that it will throw
me into a bit of a spin when they go.
Trying to drag yourself out of bed to go
to work while suffering depression is near
on impossible, and takes a hell of a lot
of self motivation, and motivation is what
we lack when we are depressed. Seeking
medical treatment would be in your best
interests right now, even if it is just
temporary medication until you are back on
your feet again. I know all to well what
that 10 foot wall feels like, and I really
don't wish to be back there again. I
worry so much when I have missed one of my
anti depressants because I am so scared of
being in that hell hole again that takes
away my hapiness and ability to function.
Depression is crippling, and the amount of
people suffering depression is on the
rise, even in countries such as india
where depression was once not even a
problem.
Take care...

Misguidedangel: I have felt that way most
of my life and thought it was normal.
Only until recently I decided to get help.
I also felt like I didn't know which way
was up or down. Thanks to seeing a
therapist and taking medication, things
look a little brighter to me. Today I am
feeling very sad, my mind keeps wandering
to the situation that put me at rock
bottem. I am not feeling the way I was
2 months ago, but I am sad. I guess life
just has it's ups and downs, and today is
down for me. I really hope you seek
professional help, it can help. You
don't have to feel this way forever.
Give yourself a little kick and get on
that road to feeling better.
