Q: Pregnant- But Confused

Hi guys,
I found out I am pregnant three days back. My home preg test was positive. I went to the doctor who did an ultrasonogram and found out that there was a small yolk sac developing . But the problem is that my hcg hormone level was too high for three- four weeks of pregnacy. So the doctor was confused as no baby had formed yet for that level of hcg. She has asked me to wait for the pregnancy to proceed now. The hcg value and the corresponding week do not match....Is it normal ? Has anyone had any such problem earlier. I just wanted the yolk sac to have a baby in it!!! Is the rise in the level any indication.....Expecting a reply soon. Sad

I dont think a high level is something to be worried about, its the low levels. I don't know if hcg levels being high means multiples. You can look up the info.

I believe that an ectopic pregnancy, is when a yolk sac develops but the baby does not develop, ultimately resulting in misscarriage... Dont quote me on that one, thats just what I thought I read...Um..I know that hgc is a hormone only present during pregnancy.. So if you have hgc, then you must be pregnant.

but I thought etopic was a tubal pregnancy???? Am I wrong, I don;t want to tell anyone else the wrong info!!... But I did have a friend who had that ,with every symptom of pregnancy and the yolk sac and then she miscarried and that was when they found out there was no baby to begin with, I had never heard of it b4

Yeah I think etopic is tubal. So if she had an ultrasound, then they'd know it was etopic. U may want to try searching the web for hcg levels or something and c if u can find anything out. Good luck.

Hi Its Me Again
Guys,
when we did the ultrasonogram for the first time they said that it was an intrauterine pregnacy itself. They didnt mention about seeing a tube pregnancy(both abdominal and vaginal ultrasonogram was done for me). The doctor also mentioned that I had come too early to check for pregnacy and that the sonogram wont give clear readings.(three- four weeks is early I think). All that was made out was a small yolk sac with no baby. But like I said the hcg reading were very high for that week.....This made doctor concerned and said we have to wait and see. My state is like very bad now,i dont know what to expect......Thanks for the answers guys. It really helps to be prepared for the worst,
bye

this happened to me. The hcg level was higher then expected which can mean two things your baby stopped developing or you are real early in your pregnancy, or you are just one of those people who triple in numbers instead of doubling. Dont be alarmed yet hun give it some time. They really cant see much until you are like 6 weeks. Good luck
