My fiance' was diagnosed a little over 2
yrs ago with a rare case of pituitary and
thyroid disease (not exactly sure what
terms and stuff). Anyway, he's been
taking androgel (gel a rubs along his
torso) and synithyroid (sp) a pill he
takes every morning, and he has been
drastically changing physically, he says
he's going through puberty at the age of
22 (now 24). His doctor
(endocrynologist) is pretty sure he cant
have children at the moment, maybe never,
or w/out medication (fsh). Im a little
skeptical cuz I have heard ppl. Say they
were infertile but ended up having
children. Im sure his sperm count is low
(med. Probably affects that), or not very
mobile. He is finally going for a sperm
test this wknd. So now we can find out
for sure whether or not he can have kids.
I have read up on what he has (but his is
a stranger case, according to his Dr.)
when he first found out his testosterone
level was like at 42 (think thats what it
was), it has gone up, but down sometimes.
I always thought this med. Helped him
produce sperm, but it doesnt. Its so
confusing.
Anyway, does anyone have or know anyone
who has a pituitary/thyroid problem and
was able to have kids or have kids
eventually?
(i dont want children now, always worried
about being preg. And it would help
knowing if he can have kids now, but
eventually after we get marreid, I would
like to start trying and I want to know
our future options)
