Switching Birth Control---from High to Low Posted: 11-17-04 17:05pm
Can you have problems when switching to a
lower dosage or bc pills?
I just switched from ortho novum I wanted
a lower dosage of hormones going into my
body. I took 2 wks worth of pills. I
started the 3rd week of pills and started
my period early. I am into the placebo
pills and am still bleeding. I have
never had a period over 3 days! Has
anyone had this sort of problem?
Should I go back to the higher dose?
Will this stop? Any help would be great.

It's the low levels of hormones that is
causing all the bleeding, and your body
just needs to adjust to them. It might be
fine the next month, or it could take a
several months, it depends on your body.
The same thing happened to my friend, so
don't worry about it... It's just
annoying to be bleeding for a month
straight or however long.

Lows And High Thanks Posted: 11-17-04 17:45pm
Thanks for your help. I was really
starting to get worried. I have never
had anything like this happen. My dr
said that I may have breakthrough bleeding
but not weeks of it. Does it depend on
your size how long it takes to adjust?
Or does it just depend on your body?
How long did it take your friend to
adjust? I am wondering if I should just
go back to what I was taking before as I
never had any problems at all.

When I went down to the low estrogen I
never had a regular period.. I wound up
having to go back on the higher estrogen
pill again. However everyone is
different so I would give it a few months
time.
