Question
I realize what I am about to post might not be in line with the current argument.. But I have a question.

I used to work at a mexican restaurant a while back in college. There was a waitress who was mixed (half black half white).
In reality she was a lot more white than black. Her hair was straight and her skin was 95% white. And to top it all off, she was a looker if ever there was one!

One day I overheard a white waiter calling her a "person". I was stunned.
Did the small amount of african race in her make her eligible to be called that. The word is derogatory to say the least and her being called that seemed to be in very bad taste.

Also, I once worked with a partner delivering pizzas to a black college campus. On one delivery, I told him that some of those black girls were cute. He replied they were but it would be nice if we could color them white!

I understand there is racism rampant on both sides. You can't blame a single race for it.

My question is this: do white people look down upon mixed races more than african americans do?

Actually I think so.

Well, I lived in chicago and worked with 300 men installing satelite dishes for dish network. I was the only girl and only 2 white guys worked. Those guys treated me with the utmost respect. Never looked down on me for being female--let alone being "white" (like I say im not white--just no box for me to check mark) but I have lived in indiana just a hundred miles from chicago and they wouldnt even talk to us. They walk right by you. Now, im in seattle--walked up to a group of african amerians to get directions--they all walked away(except one) like I was invisible--scared me. The one did give me directions. So im thinking, when they are like that they might be more prejudice than whites!! Right?? I also lived in the south--texas much of my life--they are old fashioned--but mostly neutral--some are reverse prejudice, but not so much. So I guess it is where you live or who you meet. I just think it goes both ways--but on the most part I think they are more accepting than the whites most of the time on mixed races. Just my opinion.

But shyt like I said ---we are all mixed--think about it. How many are pure "white" anymore??? Right?

I don't think the white race does that any more then any other race.......In the past hell yes.....I can't believe what went on in history but as far as now, no.......I also am speaking from a "lower class, mixed" neiborhood outlook....... I have no idea how "white collered" neiborhoods are. Does that make sense?

Anyways, we are all at fault....We need to stop pointing and blaming and do something about it! I have been called "cracker", "woop", "white bread" you name it. Even in jokeing with one another we need to stop this and start the change......Besides just by looking at soneone we can not tell what race they are.......People are so uneducated it is really sad to watch.......I love everyone!!! (as retarded as that sound it is true!!)

love, tammy

Me too sad mommy--i dont see color, except to admire how beautiful their color is-- if you know what I mean. I am just as attracted to a mexican or black man as a white man. Actually I like dark hair and dark eyes in "white" men. Yes, it starts with us, to teach lack of prejudice in our children. And to undermind the effects peers and school mates have on them.

It is up to us to spread the word of love........May make some people roll their eyes like"whatever" but it is the truth.........

Unless people learn to love themselves, they cannot love anyone else truly.......Self hate, anger, no education, lack of love, this is what creates people to lash out at one another. Not only regarding race but any other reason they can find......

My child is not allowed to say the words, stupid, shut up, or anything negitive to that matter. I am teaching him to speak with out putting someone down....And no, I did not grow up in a house surrounded with a white picket fence........I grew up on the streets of philadelphia........I am trying to break the cycle of generations before me......We should all do the same....

Peace,

tammy

My grandpa was telling me that he thinks that our family has some african in us... Although I am paler than u'd believe lol. But u'd see what he means if u look at my uncles. And plus, my great great uncle or something is named james edward freeman wight... And freeman is one of those old names the slaves took on when they were free... So who knows. Other than that, I am english, french, welsh, german, irish, etc... Heinz 57 my mom says... :) so u really never know how mixed kids are gonna turn out, but they'd be beautiful no matter what.

What makes me laugh is people who can sit there and be racist making comments like go back to your country etc etc.

All of us are immigrants unless we are native and just the fact that someone could say this really does mean they are uneducated, I cant stand racism and I stand up for myself or for others when there is a comment made.

Like I said my whole family is mixed and I do not begrudge any of them, they are my fleash and blood, so if your racist and your kid has a mixed child are you going to stop loving your child because of color??? If so then wake up and smell the coffee, not only have you become racist but you are also a bad parent.

Uneducated people are racist, maybe you should stop worrying about that other persons skin color and take care of your own family and whatever buisness it is you have.......

(dont mean to offend someone) if I ever run in to another person who says something about me or my daughter they will have it, i'm sick of the bs and I do stuff for my community as well as pay taxes just like you!!.............My husband never ran off on me and he has an awesome job, he has never treated me like i'm lower than him and he doesnt fight with me.

IM WHITE AND HE'S JAMAICAN
Im white and my bf is jamaican.. my family excepts this as does his. i am also 22 weeks pregnant with my first child who will be biracial. this does not bother me at all. the way i see it is im the one including them in my family and as a part of my life and it is my life therefore i will do it the way that i want it and not care what outsiders believe or think. those ppl are just closeminded and will never understand so why should we have to explain or defend our relationship.. i wont do it!! im happy and he is a very kind guy.. i have had white bf's and they didnt go well.. so color or race or whatever... it doesnt matter and it shouldnt matter to you ladies either!!

Don't focus on what other people will say what's important right now that you take good care of yourself and the baby in your womb. Once you give birth, everybody will adore how lovely little angel you have:) cheers!
