Cafiene During Pregnancy Posted: 10-18-03 21:58pm
Dear tina,
from what I have read (i don't know the
facts), it is ok to drink 2 cups of coffee
per day without any problems, any more
than that apparently can possibly stunt
the growth of your baby. I stress again,
I don't know how accurate that is. I
drink 2 cups of coffee per day and I am 10
weeks pregnant now, if you are really
concerned about your cafiene intake you
could try decaf, although personaly I can
not stand the stuff. I guess there are
other alternatives to coffee such as malt
drinks etc. Tea has just as much cafiene
as coffee, as a matter of fact I think tea
has more. Maybe you could ask for your
doctors opinion on the 'cafiene during
pregnancy' debate.
Good luck...

I have read the same thing two cups of
coffee a day, but I thought anymore could
speed up the babys heart. Who knows guess
some things I read just get a bit jumbled
together in my head. But I know for sure
I have read on numerous sites that 2 cups
is okay.

I have also drank the eqivalent of two
cups of coffee with two out of the three
of my previous pregnancies, about the
stunting of growth, I know it doesn't hurt
too much, my second baby is the only one I
didn't drink it with, and he is my
smallest.

I have been addicted to diet coke for many
years, and when I got pregnant I did not
know how I would give it up. I asked my
ob and he said to limit the caffeine
intake to 8 oz a day. I think that's one
cup. He said that excessive caffeine
intake can cause premature labor. I know
that decaf stuffs bites but at least its
better than nothing. I am 19 weeks now
and have gotten used to the stuff. Most
of the time I want water anyway. Good
luck :d
