Strontium For Bone Formation Posted: 11-24-04 18:32pm
New drug protelos (strontium ranelate) for
osteoporosis just been announced.
Key in strontium ranelate and also
strontium citrate into an internet search
engine, very interesting research data for
the treatment of oesteoporosis going back
to the fifties (when it was first used to
treat the disease).
It appears the ranelate is the drug
version of strontium (the only way they
could patent it) and is derived from
strontium which is a mineral and available
to buy as strontium citrate (not classed
as a drug).
My mum has osteoporosis aged 76, late
diagnosis, so most of damage already done,
but strontium does appear to have
remarkable results both the ranelate
version (clinically trialled as they could
class it as a drug) and the citrate
version (not clincally trialled but very
good results). Print off the data on the
internet. Worth taking this supplement
(strontium citrate) if you have a family
history of oesteoporosis and are nearing
the menopause or even if you have the
disease, supposed to stop you from
developing oesteoporosis.
