Gall Bladder High Hida Scan #
Posted: 11-25-04 16:34pm

All of my gall bladder tests have been negative but my hida scan showed my result as #74 which means overactive. Has anyone had this happen? If so, what were you told and what did you do? I do have symptons but I feel so in limbo. Help

I do hida scans, and I have never heard of a "high or overactive hida scan" a normal gallbladder ejection fraction is typically 60 to 90 %. A higher reading is unusual but not abnormal.
Sometimes, overactive bowels can result in radioisotope obscuring the gallbladder, making measuring the gallbladder ejection fraction difficult, if not impossible.
I think you need to get clairifcation from your doctor about what exactly your hida scan is telling him.
