Does This Happen to Anyone Else? Posted: 10-19-03 12:13pm
hi I just was
sitting here and decided to find out if
anyone out there feels kind of how I do.
Here let me explain:
when to many things are going on at once I
get an instant headache, my eyes hurt and
I get very nervous. I get confused and it
even gets to the point that I try to read
numbers and I see them backwards.
The things that get me feeling this way
are: kids screaming, people talking, t.V
too loud, music to loud too many thing on
my mind.
It gets so bad that I just want to scream
and just have anyone that is around me
disapear...That includes husband and kids.
I feel like I am a bad mom because I just
don't have the patients for them.
I do not know if this has anything to do
with depression but I am desperate to find
help...Please and thank-you.Negra

Hi,
oh yes, I know what you are talking about
very much. Last year, I was diagnosed
with burnout, aniexty and depression.
Anything noises really bothered me and
sometimes they still do. I even lost my
memory, which was very very scary. I
have been on medication for over a year
and I feel that I need my mecidation upped
or changed. I have started to cry again.
You should get yourself checked. So
you do not get as bad as I got last year.
Please please go get help. I wanted to
runaway and leave my whole life, jobs,
husband, kids everything. Life is too
short for us to go thru this stuff.
Take care

Anxiety... Posted: 10-19-03 19:23pm
Hi negra, you sound as though you are
suffering severe anxiety. We were
actually discussing noises that annoy us
in the anxiety forum at the beginning of
the month in a post called "some noises
drive me crazy".
you really should go and have a read you
could probably relate to the posts there
from others who are suffering the same
thing. Are you taking anti depressants ?
It would really help you keep your stress
to a controllable level, at least so you
can function properly. You don't have to
live like this, you must feel like you are
going out of your mind. I have severe
anxiety to, and usually once you have
anxiety, it doesn't usually go away, so my
daughter has been basically trained to be
a quiet child, you know like no yelling,
screaming and jumping around the house,
lol. It is a little easier for me as my
husband suffers anxiety to and completely
understands that I need a quiet
environment. Even if someone is talking
to loud I could just about rip their head
off, I hate noise. Relaxation and
meditation really helps to, even if you
take half an hour for yourself each day
with the bedroom door shut, you will
notice yourself sinking back to a calm
state of mind. If you have to, go and
meditate every time you feel your stress
levels rising. Treat it like an illness
that needs to be treated because that is
exactly what it is. Explain to your
family that you will be a lot easier
person to be around if they can help you
out by understanding that you have anxiety
and it would really help you to keep a
quiet environment (be patient though, they
can't do this overnight), explain to them
what it is that you actually feel when
anxiety has a grip on you. Many people
including your own family members are not
suffering anxiety, so it is impossible for
them to know what you are feeling unless
you explain it to them. You never know
they might enjoy the peacefulness in the
household to.
I hope you feel better soon...

Thanks guy for letting me know that there
are others that suffer what I do. I
thought I was the only one. It has gotten
so bad that in order to put myself in a
better mood I tend to drink quite a bit.
I still can control the drinking but I am
afraid that I won't be able to for very
long. I really don't know what to do. I
will try to relax and take half an hour
for myself. Thanks negra

I beg you to be so very careful about
drinking to alleviate stress and/or
depression. I'm happy that you still can
control your drinking, but we must
remember that alcohol acts as a depressent
upon the brain. There's a very real
danger that regular use of alcohol for
this problem may cause things to worsen.
My mother gave me a piece of advice when I
was younger: "if you ever feel like you
need a drink, don't have one." I suffered
from depression for many years, but i've
always remembered and followed that. I
believe it has made my recovery more
smooth.
Don't give up. If you find this is a
persistent problem, I urge you to seek the
help of a qualified counselor or doctor.
The subjects of depression and anxiety
aren't nearly as tabboo as they once were.
Help is there. Best wishes, honey.

I too have a hard time reading numbers
when I feel this depression/anexity I have
and I also have a hard time reading,
things look all messed up to me, hard to
describe. It is even hard to type right
now, it is like I lost my memory and I am
a little kid and have to learn everything
all over again.
This disease sucks but please seek help
from a doctor not a bottle. I have been
smoking way too much and that isn't good
either.
