Severe Itch From Situations
Posted: 11-28-04 18:06pm

I've developed a condition when in situations where there is a hint of stress involved I start to itch like crazy mainly on the chest, back and my lower legs. Its uncontrollable until I take off my clothes - apart from trousers and pants.

I now know that its the cold air that stops the itch.

I have had attacks from small things like driving in the dark, dismantle a bed and social situations where I am slightly uncomfortable.

This is starting to drive me a bit crazy, as it seems to be getting worse, and because I work in a open plan office, taking my clothes off is not a option. - also I have to drive home along a busy fast dark road, which is something I cant change.

There are no signs of rash or similar, and am convinced its stress related, due to when the itching starts.

Although I cant help to find the funny side to my stripping off my clothes bit, it is a very bad situation for me.

I wondered if any one had any suggestions in overcoming this as its getting worse, and feel it has started to affect my life.

Many thanks

ivanks

Hi ivanks

i have anxiety also, and I know how hard it is to deal with. I don't suffer from a rash, but I can imagine how the combination may be overwhelming. I do have a friend who breaks out in a rash almost every day from allergies- she doesnt even know what foods or situations cause it exactly. Just a thought, but maybe allergy meds (which are not as severe as anxiety meds) may help??? You should ask a doctor about that because no one should have to live with that. Best of luck, post progress!
