Should I Worry?! Please Help! Posted: 11-29-04 20:34pm
This is my first time doing this so I
really hope someone can help me and inform
me to better my knowledge. My boyfriend
and I had unprotected sex yesterday and he
climaxed inside of me. He usually either
wears a condom, or he pulls out when he
doesn't wear one. I know the pull-out
method is not a very effective method to
use, however we have been using this
method for over a year now and it has been
working well so far. Although we are
aware of the risks, we did not bother to
use any kind of protection or method
yesterday. We just sort of got caught in
the moment - terrible excuse, I know!
The issue I am trying to figure out is if
I am leaning more towards the clear side,
or if maybe I should worry about a
pregnancy. I just finished my period
last tuesday. It started on the previous
thursday, nov. 18th and ended on tuesday,
nov. 23rd with very light spotting.
Yesterday, nov. 28th, would have been the
11th day after the first day of my last
period (counting the actual day I
started). It is also five days after the
last day of my last period. I'm not
exaclty sure from which day I should
count. Any ideas? Please advise.
Should I worry, or should I not worry?

Honestly there is always a worry or a
chance to become pregnant. But you or I
wont know until it is time for your period
again.. I cant honestly sit here and tell
you yes because I dont know when you
ovulated. Good luck hun and let us know
in a month

Are your periods regular? If not, then
it would be hard to tell when you
ovulated. You usually ovulate about 2
weeks after your period, but that is in a
regular 28 day cycle. There is always a
chance of pregnancy. Unless you are
trying to get pregnant, you should be on
some form of birth control yourself.

that's the thing, I used to have a very
regular 28 day cycle. That only lasted
up until a few months ago though. Now I
get my period twice a month! It's really
weird. However, I did recently read
somewhere that it could have a lot to do
with my health, with stress, with my diet
and whether or not I exercise. This is
the first time this is happening to me.
I got the morning after pill earlier today
but now that it's in my hand i'm very
hesitant to take it. It seems like a
form of a very early abortion and I am
personally against that. Not that I
don't agree if anyone else does it, it's
just me in particular that wouldn't.
I was on birth control pills last year
until I was termintated from my parents'
insurance plan because I turned 22 and
wasn't going to school anymore. I really
can't afford health insurance right now,
so that's why we (my boyfriend and me)
turned to condoms most of the time and
withdrawl some of the times. I know
about other methods as well. I just
don't like any of them. I was
comfortable with the bc pills.
Honestly, I am not trying to get pregnant.
We're neither emotionally, physically,
much less financially ready yet. I do
know though what my decision would be if I
am pregnant. Fortunately, I have a very
loving and supporting boyfriend and family
that would back me up in anything I decide
to do, so because of that I would
definitely keep my baby. But you know,
ideally it would just be really nice to
preferrably have some more time with my
boyfriend (just us), be married
eventually, and then have a baby. We
have a lot of plans for our future and a
baby is not in those plans anytime in the
near future. We should have thought that
out better yesterday - I know! But i'm
sure we all have those "in the moment"
situations at some point, right? If the
time is now, then we'll take
responsibilty. There's no messing with
that in my case for sure.
At this point however, it really hasn't
hit me yet to start getting worried. I
feel that if I start stressing now, then
that can affect my body and delay my
period if I am, in the end, not pregnant.
I guess tazzy is right...I'll just have
to wait until my next period is due.
I'll keep you ladies posted! Thank you
much! Xo xo
please let me know of any other
suggestions, if anymore...

you for wanting to take responsibility!
That is what I am doing as hard as it is!

well, since your periods are irregular you
have to wait. I totally agree with you
on the morning after pill too. That is
exactly what it is, but it is up to you.
Hope all goes well. Take care of
yourself as if you were pregnant, just in
case.

Honey, I really recommend getting on
better b/c the withdrawl method is not
reliable at all. Is there any welfare or
healthcare plan that'll pay for the pill?
Can you get free condoms from a local
clinic?
The morning after pill stops an egg that
*might* have been fertilised from
implanting into the womb (2/3 of
fertilised eggs fail to do this). Some
people consider implantation to be when
life begins, some fertilisation, some a
whole different point: it's completely
your call.
Best thing to do is wait and get a preggo
test, but make sure you use condoms until
you find out (don't just think "sod it I
might be preggo anyway"). Try not to
worry too much.
