Chances of Finace' Being Fertile... Posted: 11-30-04 12:12pm
My fiance' has a rare case of
pituitary/thyroid disease. He only found
this out about 2 years ago (he is now 24).
He was very underdeveloped physically,
no facial or body hair, baby fat around
stomache, etc. His testosterone level
was extremely lower, I think only like 42,
when he found out. Since then he has
been taking a pill (dont know name), rubs
androgel on his torso area.
He doesnt have a tumor (thats why he's
considered a rare case, cause he had such
a serious problem, with no tumor or
anything).
His Dr. Is pretty sure (he says like
98/99%), that he can't have kids w/out the
help of medication. (i think fsh)
im always worried that im gonna get preg.
And he gets mad cuz he said there's a good
chance that he can't have kids.
Does anyone know if from the little I said
above, he may be fertile? He may have
some sperm, but not much. He is going to
get a sperm test done soon, but I need
something to ease my mind now.
Any info. Would be greatly appreciated.

From the way you said it, it sounds like
you don't want to get pregnant? If that's
the case, it is best to be upfront about
your concerns, even though it may be a bit
sensitive for him. Even if he has a very
low sperm count, there is still a chance
of getting pregnant. Are you using any
form of bc now? This is something you may
want to discuss with your own doctor, but
if you are marrying this man, you probably
have the right to know exactly what the
situation is. In the meantime, you should
be using condoms at least.

I have been on birth control pills for 2
years now, and we do use spermicidal
lubricated condoms.

Do You Want Kids? Posted: 01-10-05 01:19am
Jar81:
it is always possible even if he has a low
sperm count.
My thought, do you want children, ever.
If he is shown to have difficulty, you may
want to plan to begin you family as soon
as you can (after you are married).
Especially if he is being prescribed
steriods to correct his problem. This
may worsen his fertility.
My wife and I appreciate the years alone
together, but we could not ever imagine or
want to imagine our life with out our son.
He added such a new dimension to our
lives and our marriage.
