I have no idea, but I paid over $1,000
with insurance. I would guess $5,000+.
If you don't have insurance you should
look for other ways, like medicaid (i
think) to help you. The reason is
because the bills don't end after baby
comes. You have to take a baby to the
doctor quite often in the first year and
yourself at least once too.

Some can cost over 10,000. I have
medicaid. I just know that if I didnt
have it, my first visit would have been
900 and then 100 each time. And the
hospital bill is sep., too. It racks up.

I love canada- we have medicare in
quebec! Everything is free! You don't
pay for anything: blood tests,
ultrasounds, doc's appt--nothing! The
only thing we have to pay for is if we
want a private room when we deliver and
even then it's only like 100$ or
something. So to answer the original
question----move to canada--lol

expenses?

Wow, that's wonderful! We've paid about
$2,500 in medical/dental expenses this
year and we have insurance! Lord knows
with two babies, and me not working we
could have used that money for other
things. That settles it! Quebec here
we come! :d

Socialized medicine seems like the
answer, but there are higher taxes in
canada to help pay for it!!And,we in the
u.S.Can choose the doctors we see,not the
government!I know people who brought their
children to the u.S. For tonsilectomies
because there was a three year wait to
have it done locally.Your system is great
in canada,but,it is not without
problems, just like our system here.We have
federal medical care, but many people are
"too proud" to apply for it.I have had to
use it when I was uninsured and it sucked
to have to hand over the medicaid card, but
I was able to get the care I
needed.Yes,medical care costs money,but so
does everything else.Add up what you spend
on movies,eating out and other
amusements. And that is not covered by
insurance! How about what you spend on hair
and makeup?Is that covered by
insurance?Cigarrettes?Going to the
bar?Nikes,coach bags or ugg boots??No
insurance for that ,is there??Your health
and your baby's health are priceless! The
grass may seem greener on the other side
of the border, but I for one will stay
right here!!Patty

The government doesn't pick our doc's for
us, and here as soon as you are born you
receive a medicare card (in quebec-there's
diff programs in the rest of canada) it
does not matter whether you are poor or
rich. Our taxes are not that high
considering everything that is paid for.
I have clients I deal with all over
america and they say they pay pretty much
the same we do. The day I had
apendicitis- I had my appendix removed, I
had a 2 week wait for my tonsls so I don't
know where these people are from. My
hubby has back problems and the day after
he went to the doc his physio started for
free and continues for as long as he
needs.
