Worried About Ectopic Pregnancy Posted: 12-01-04 19:10pm
I really need someone's help. My name's
cassie and i'm 15. I think I am almost 6
weeks pregnant...But I think it's an
ectopic pregnancy.I feel absolutely
horrible ,and i'm going insane trying to
think of what to do.
Okay ,i'm just going to start from the
begining.
If i'm pregnant then I concived on october
30th.We used protection ,so I didn't think
anything of it.After that ,over the month
of november , i've drank alcohol (smirnoff
twisted and bud light if that's of any
importance) ,smoked weed (3 days in a row
if that matters) and cigarettes(close to
half a pack a day) ,and (i don't know if
im being obsessivly paranoid here) went on
those rides the flip you upside down and
spin you in circles.
I swear I had no clue I might be pregnant
until two weeks ago when I missed my
period.And i've only smoked 2 cigarettes
since then.I know I shouldn't have smoked
at all the second I missed my period ,but
it was hard.
Okay ,well after I missed my period ,i
decided to wait a week to see if it was
just late. But I started having these
sharp ,unbearable shooting pains on the
left side of my stomach about 6 inches
below my breast.At first I thought nothing
of it ,but it continued.
So I started checking around and I read
the severe pain like that is a sign of an
ectopic pregnancy. That really scared me
because my mom had a history of ectopics
and miscarriages before I was born. (are
ectopics hereditery?)
but the thing is ,this past monday and
tuesday ,i took two pregnancy tests ,and
both came out negative.
So ,if anyone has any idea what's going on
,or if anyone has experienced anything
similar , please please let me know.
Would it be safe for me to wait another
week before I go to the doctors?Because
maybe my period is just late ,and I really
don't want to upset my dad and have to go
to the doctors if there's nothing to worry
about.
And , is there even the slightest chance
that maybe it's not an eptopic pregnancy?
Is it possible that I might be pregnant
but everything is fine? Like , maybe my
hcg levels are still to low to detect?
I'm sorry this is so long , but i'm just
so worried and so scared , anyone who has
any kind of information ,please e-mail me.

As far as I can see from this, ectopics
aren't heriditary, although you're at a
slightly higher risk of one if you've had
one before.
These are the symptoms:
lower abdominal or pelvic pain
mild cramping on one side of the pelvis
amenorrhea (cessation of regular menstrual
cycle)
abnormal vaginal bleeding (usually scant
amounts, spotting)
breast tenderness
nausea
low back pain
if rupture and hemorrhaging occurs before
successfully treating the pregnancy,
symptoms may worsen and include:
severe, sharp, and sudden pain in the
lower abdominal area
feeling faint or actually fainting
referred pain to the shoulder area
*but* bear in mind these are general
symptoms - heck, i've had these symptoms
with periods! It also says you should
have had a positive pregnancy test, which
you haven't. I'd lay money on you just
being panicky about this hun. Most of the
time when you worry,things aren't
serious.
If you've taken two preggo tests and it's
6 weeks since you conceived and you were
using protection, you probably aren't
preggo (provided you used the test
properly). If you're worried, go and see
your doctor, it's important - if you
seriously think it's ectopic you must go
to the doctor asap. Do you have to tell
your dad? Can you just make up an
excuse?
Don't worry about the smoking etc *if* you
are pregnant it's not going to make a huge
amount of difference in the first few
weeks. Plus it's done now.
Doesn't sound like you need to panic hun.
I've had pains like you've described and
it turned out to be my body trying to
annoy me. The only symptom you've had is
pain, so it doesn't sound like an ectopic
especially considering you've had two
negative preggo tests.

Well.. By the sounds of it it doesnt seem
like you're pregnant.. Although there is
still a chance. But the pain could also
be from fast food or appendicitis or other
symptons like that. Missing your period
could be due to stress too... But if it
worries you, ask your doctor.

I was sent into hospital when I had sharp
pains on the left side of my stomach ,
and was fainting all the time.
They said they suspect an eptopic
pregnancy
they did a real quick scan ( I didnt even
get too see it ) and said the
baby was fine and safe. They never told
me what was causing the sharp pains
unfortunatly, and the fainting was due
too low blood pressure.
If you suspect an eptopic pregnancy, go
too the doctors as soon as you can,
because its not only harmful too the
unborn baby, its harmful too you.

Thank you all so much. I'm going to wait
until sunday and if I haven't had my
period by then ,i'm going to go to the
doctors. I know I should calm down ,but
my period hasn't been late or irregular
since I first got it , it always right on
time. I think after I missed my period ,i
just got all worried about being pregnant
and then I started getting those pains and
I started worrying even more ,so i'm kind
of jumping to conclusions. And I read
somewhere that when there is an ectopic
pregnancy , hcg levels are abnormaly low
so I figured there might not have been
enough for the test to detect.
Anyways ,thank you all for helping me out.

I had a friend who had an etopic preg and
she ended up waiting to go to the er cuz
she was in so much pain she couldn't even
move. Her tests came up neg. U should
get checked out hun, and good luck
) and said the
