I had that and the doctor had to freeze it off then 2 years later I had cervical cancer from it and had to have a hysterctomy so make sure you go to a doctor and have it froze or scrapped off and have check up every three month for a year. I wish I would have done that now so please keep up on it. Smile

Laser Surgery.....
Posted: 10-10-04 18:50pm

I'm having laser surgery on the 22nd of oct.....I have sever leisons, and i'm just wondering if anybody has had this done, and if they have any comments on the pain afterwards, how long it took you to heal, and if there was anything that you did to help the heeling process, and reduce pain......I'm really worried, and it would be nice to have some input....Thank you in advance

There are dozens of different strains of hpv. Only a few of them cause cervical cancer, some cause vaginal warts and others cause no symptoms at all. If you get tested for hpv, ask which strain you have (sometimes you can have more than one).

Safe sex (condoms for all contact) is the best way to prevent transferring it to your partner.

Once you have hpv, it's nearly impossible to get rid of (though doctors are working on that). Regular pap tests and pelvic exams can keep you from getting cervical cancer. Many, many women lead healthy lives with the disease if they take care of themselves. Hysterectomy is not the only option if you are on top of things and have exams regularly to get rid of any abnormal cells and leisons.

Take care all!
