Husband Found Lump Underarm Posted: 12-04-04 22:51pm
My husband has been working long hours,
driving 120 miles per day (60 miles back
and forth) and going to school (in his
spare time!!#?#) he has been rung out as
you can imagine. He got a dry cough
about a month ago that has turned into
producing phlegm recently. But what I am
really concerned about is a lump that has
popped up under his right armpit.
He went to the doctor yesterday and the
doctor wants to do a cat scan on the
gland. He is usually very healthy, but I
think he is just run down from the hectic
pace he is keepting. The doctor told him
not to worry or lose sleep, he just wanted
to rule out the possibility of anything
too serious.
Anyway, I felt the lump and it is moveable
to me. It is tender to him. I can tell
it is swollen. He has not had any fever
and has not lost any weight which is
good.
The doctor asked my husband if we had a
cat and of course, we do! This means he
may possibly have cat scratch fever. I
have owned cats all my life and I have
never had this nor heard of anyone I know
having this.
Anyway, he goes for the cat scan on tues.,
I do hope that there is nothing serious
going on. I couldn't understnad why the
doctor would not go ahead and run blood
tests though knowing that he is run
down.
He chose to get the cat scan first?
Has anyone ever had a similar problem like
this? Has anyone ever had cat scratch
fever?

I havent had cat scratch but my sis has,
and she is fine now. I would just keep an
eye on the lump and if you see it
worrsening then just call the doctor, but
I would push for the cat scan for the lump
just in case.I hope this helps. I hope
everything is well and god bless!!!!!!!!!!

Cat Scratch! Posted: 08-20-05 19:07pm
Hi sheila,
not only have I heard of cat scratch, but
I was diagnosed with it over three years
ago. I went for a routine eye exam and
my optometrist referred me to an retina
specialist because growth was detected on
my optic nerve. The specialist was the
one who suspected cat scratch fever or
"disease" and sent me for blood work.
The results came back positive for the
bartonella henselae , which is found in
cat scratch. I was on antibiotics for
almost three months. I don't know how
long I had the disease for. I had been
going to doctors complaining of my swollen
lymph nodes under my left jaw, which were
only tender when touched. None of them
were able to suspect anything, but my
recovering from a minor infection or
typical flu virus. Yeah right! Thank
god, someone had the proper training-a
retina specialist-go figure! There are
cases in which cat scratch have resulted
to harmful injury and even death, while in
some cases people go without symptoms or
pain. Tell your husband to get tested as
soon as possible. I used to be a cat
lover too, until all this happened and now
I live pet-free. Good luck-ty!
