Chest Pains Due to Arthritis Posted: 12-05-04 09:12am
I have severe rheumatoid arthritis..
Recently I have been having chest pain in
the right side (from my view). When I
exhale real hard, its there. Its does not
hurt, but just feels stiff, and it is out
of the ordinary. Could this be my ribs
being affected, or my lungs, because I
heard that rheumatoid arthritis can affect
your lungs by creating nodules in it or
something. Anyone know any info on this,
please reply. Thx.

Look up costochondroititis. It''s an
inflammation of the cartilage that
connects your sternum and ribs. It can
mimic the paiin of a heart attack or lung
problems, but if you press on your sternum
lightly and experience pain, that's it.
You can look it up on the national library
of medicine web site .Org.
I had this and went to the er thinking I
was having a heart attack it hurt so bad.
Later my rheumy told me it is a condition
of psoratic arthritis, which is similar to
rheumatoid.
