I am sure this is where your uterus tilts the opposite way.
Like it normal tilts slightly forwards (i think) and inverted tilts the opposite way. (could be vice versa)

but don't quote me _ i'll go away and investigate

I couldn't find anything much on it except what happens to make it an inverted. Hope this helps you! Smile

inverted uterus
a crisis that occurs when the corpus turns inside out, emerging through the cervix into the vagina or beyond the introitus.

The uterus is most commonly inverted when too much fundal pressure is applied by an inexperienced operator or when too much traction is applied to the cord of an adherent placenta.

The easiest and simplest way to reinvert the uterus is to push the corpus up into the vaginal canal, then pass a catheter into the vagina and occlude the introitus with the hand. Saline is flushed by hydraulic pressure (the saline is held 3 to 4 ft above the patient's abdomen) so that it inflates the vagina and reinverts the uterus.

Manual attempts to reinvert the uterus may result in its inadvertent puncture by the examiner's fingers. Rarely, surgery is necessary: the constricting ring is incised between the uterosacral ligaments, and the uterus is reinverted.

I know that doesnt sound good! I think its the process they use to put it back. Icky!!!

I think inverted means malposition. It doesnt mean in anyway that it will cause problems with becoming pregnant or make you infertile. Its alittle harder for the nurse or doctor to feel the uterus when doing an internal exam because its 'titled'. I think the only problem to face (from what ive read) is that it might cause the uterus to turn inside out when the placenta is coming out.

I kept finding the same info plus this.

Inverted uterus occurs when the placenta implants on just the exact center of the top of the uterus. It is extremely rare for it to recur.

Good luck hun I will keep searching

I thought it was just an upside down uterus... I don't know nothing about all those fancy terms that were used in nikki and rudy's post.. Sorry I can't help.

If it truly was inverted, then it would kind of hang down into the vagina, and it would be just after you had given birth. It is alco considered to be a prolapsed uterus. If it had been inverted, the doctor would not have sent you home, but done all sorts of procedures to rectify the problem.

So I suspect that he misspoke and really meant a posterior uterus, which is indeed a uterus that bends backwards in the abdomen instead of leaning forward as one poster suggested.
