Not sure, but I don't see why you would have to take it out.

Well I know that for any surgery they make you take it out. So I would guess so. But my friend just had a baby and they didn't make her take any of her jewelery out. I.E. Large earrings. So I really don't know. I just wouldn't say anything. But there are clear, flat studs that you can get from clairs or walmart or wherever you got it pierced. There's always a way around it! Laughing

I have my tongue pierced. I read somewhere that you have to take it out but i'm not going to. I've had mine pierced for over 2 years but it would still close up in a matter of minutes. Just try and not let them see it. They can kiss my ass. I'm not having the pain of having it redone or paying for it. I don't see what the big deal with it is.

Hah, I had mine peirced for about four months, got bored and took it out. This was about 2 years ago, I can still put it back in. Well with a bit of pain. But then thats me, I peirced my own nose, ears few times.. Wink I think that in some cases they like you to take out your peircings as during labour you move about and could damage them. Dont know, just what I heard.

Hardly anyone can leave their tongue rings out that long. I don't care why they ask you to take it out. I am not redoing mine. I'm sure it's a just in case thing but i'll take my chances.

I never had my tongue pierced but I did have my lip done. When I found out I was pregnant the first time my doctor told me that when it came time to have aurora i'd have to take it out for saftey reasons. When a woman goes into labor she sometimes thrashes around a lot and bites down on her lip while pushing. They just dont want the ring to be ripped out. And i'm just guessing but its probably the same thing with a tongue ring. They just want to be causious incase something happens and it rips out and the women ends up chocking on it. At least that would be my guess. You should still talk to your doctor though he/she would be able to tell you why for sure.

yes, that's what i've heard/think too. You never know how you're gonna act in labor.

I had a friend deliver this past jan. And she had a to take hers out. Its because they are afraid you will swallow it and choke.

There are clear flat studs to go into the hole. They are totally hidden and safer. If you were to bite anything to rip out it would prob. Be your tongue w/ the clear stud! Laughing ......Just a suggestion...
