Keppra. & Coldsores On Lip.? And Different Seizure Acti Posted: 12-11-04 03:28am
Dear everyone,
started on keppra
1000mg... 1 week ago.. Swiched from
tegretol, because I was getting to sick
with side effects and I had poor seizure
control also... I am also taking epilim
2400mg...
Now I had a huge seizure and was
hospitalised.. After taking keppra for
one week. Was it the adjustment to this
new meds. Or is it because I have a
coldsore on my lip i.E infection and meds
arent working well.?
Went to dr he upped meds again. Feel more
evened out now.. But before the initial
feeling on keppra was stoned 24/7 and
hyperactivity..
I have had appetite loss.. Which is good
for me but also bad.. Epilim made me put
on 15-20kgs and keppra states weight loss
as a effect that has begun so I am
happy.
No aggression to date as yet as the other
pills made me very agitated and scared
inside...
I have tle.. And this latest seizure was
strangest ever..
Ppl said that my arms were at my sides
shaking rapidly but evenly jerkin, head
was to the side, eyes rolled way back in
head more then usual, eye lid blinking,
also making gibberish noises.... Leggs
out streatched moving up and down
jerkingly....Could hear a little.
Usually my arms are up to my chest. And I
jerk all over, are there different ways of
grand mals. Simple partials
to me I felt strange just before... Fait
even, went paile in face felt sick in
stomach, dropped to floor.. And remember
peices inbetween.
I just cant imagine myself or what or how
I must have looked so scarey total
experiance lasted over 11 minutes.
Please feel free to tell me things of your
experiances.
Thanks sami.

Seizures Posted: 12-11-04 08:55am
Sami,
not sure. I would check with
pharmacist and see if the two meds can be
taken together or whether or not they
badly interact with each other. There are
different categories of anti-seizure meds.
Sometimes you might have to be off of one
for awhile before taking another. Check
and see. Even though expensive I would
stronly suggest getting a pdr. That gives
all info on any med made. I honestly
would not be without that or a good
pharmacist. Just a suggestion. Hope you
feel better
love les

Thankyou for your replys..
Yes I have a wonderful Dr... It was
explained to me now... That when changing
meds you have to be careful of lights.
And changes in weather temps.
And I never knew that, as I have been kept
in the dark alot about my condition by my
other dr and neurologists that I had seen
in the past.
I was initially told by my first
neuroilogist that I was a waste of time
basically, that there was no epileptic
patterns in my brain.
But now I am told that you cant fake that
lol...
Im feeling much better now finally 1 yr on
from initial seizure.
