hi... i had a bridge removed that i wanted
redone for pure cosmetic purposes (back
teeth,molers). after removal dentist told
me that the two teeth holding bridge
looked great/do NOT need root canals. He
put on temp bridge and send me off with
pain killers. For 2 weeks thereafter, I
called and visited dentist every 2nd day,
as I was in severe pain and the cause
thereoff was that the temp bridge was too
high! they kept grinding it down.
Finally, I called and said that if he
doesn't do it right, I will go back to my
old dentist, cause the pain was too much
and never stopped. He of course told me
to come immediately and suprise suprise, I
had a hugh absess on my last tooth (which
he for some reason did not see the day
before, even though I already felt for
days that my gums were HUGH!)..He cut the
absess open, called a root canal
specialist and send me right over for a
root canal. The specialist took a look
and would have choosen the wrong!!! tooth
for a root canal based on his tests! I
told him to call my dentist and the talked
and the last tooth got a root canal. The
specialist then told me that the other
tooth holding the bridge also needs a root
canal!! Wowieeee how did all that come
about???
Question is: did the bridge being too
high, causing severe pain & therefore
drama to those teeth play a role in the
two teeth now suddenly in pain and in need
of a root canal???? I kindof think this
was a 'set-up' as when I first called
about the pain the RECEptionist (not a
tech or dentist) immediately said, well,
we will send you to a root canal
specialist, now how would she have known
this??
Further to this, after cutting the absess,
he should have put me on
antibiotics...which he didn't..and i now
for the past 3 weeks have a severe case of
oral thrush, probably caused by the 'goo'
which came out of the absess, which he
didn't even suck up.
Am i wrong, or am i right in that the
drama cause by a severely high temp bridge
could have caused the additional problems
(he agreed, by the way, that the bridge
was wayyy to high)....
Thanks for advise!

Hi there, it sounds like you need a new
dentist and fast! Not to sure why those
two teeth needed the root canal, but it
sounds like you got a couple of either dum
denttists or money hungry. Maybe, it's not
like that, but the dentist should have
caught it way before that high temporary
thing was put on. Do you have good
coverage for dental?

..yeap..you may be right, except he has 5
grand of mine for the NEW bridge which
isn't in yet. I highly suspect it's a
'set up". I am a private paying
client...meaning CASH! no insurance. I
think I will ask for all the x rays from
both doctors after he puts my bridge in
SATISFACTORY and then go see my old dentis
for help.... Strangly enough the problem
dentist seems to have a good reputation in
Cosmetic dentistry..which is why i went
there since i had no real problems, just
wanted to do maintenance to improve my
smile and spend some $$s on it! Well thus
far it cost me 4K more then it should
have. Oh well...live and learn.
