Q: Suspicious Vaginal Spotting... Curious of What It Means!???

Hi everyone, i've had very suspicious vaginal spotting about 2 weeks ago. I spotted blood 1-2 times during the day(very light) and the next day I didn't spot at all but then the day after that I spotted again only once but lightly bright red. I usually get my period around the 18/19 and I haven't received it yet but i'm usually irregular. I thought I was getting my period when the spotting happened but it didn't come down at all. I am nervous because I dont know what this necessarily means and I don't have a set obgyn since its been like 2 years since i've seen the doctor (i know that's bad). My fiance and I have unprotected sex all the time (now we have done it not to often-maybe once a week) and have been for the past 5-6 months and I don't know if this could be a sign of pregnancy or maybe i'm just overreacting. My mother has had a miscarriage before and tells me that spotting is a sign of that... But at this point I don't even know if i'm pregnant... Should I take a test.. Go to a doctor. Please give response if anyone has experienced this. Thanks a bunch! Confused Confused

Vaginal Spotting...
Dear chilly,

you could quite possibly be pregnant, especially since you have been having unprotected sex. Spotting sometimes occurs a few days after conception as the egg is implanting itself deep into the uterus. You would only need to be concerned about miscarriage if you were also experiencing heavy bleeding possibly containing tissue or clots, severe abdomen pain accompanied by severe lower back pain aswell. Worrying will almost definately delay your period and spotting is not uncommon in women who are irregular in their period or taking the birth control pill. Maybe you could take a pregnancy test just to be sure.

Good luck...

Vaginal Spotting..
Thank you suzy for your advice. I'm getting swollen breasts but they're really not in pain and I have to pee often, but those are also signs of getting menstruation. I will see by tomorrow if I don't get my period, I will take a test.
