Two!
I know from experience it is way harder to wean a 1-2 year old than a 6 month old baby. The day before my youngest son turned 2 I told him no more nursing after today! And I went out with my hubby and friends two nights in a row so, since I wasn't there he couldn't nurse. I know it sounds cruel, but it worked! He never really tried to nurse again!
