Has any here ever taken it? I have
general anxiety disorder snd have finally
decided to get on something. And today I
have started on 10 mg of lexapro. I am
nervous about it though too. The only
thing I noticed is I got very tired after
taking it but then again I have been tired
lately. Has this helped anyone or has
anyone had any problems with it? ~ erica.

Erica,
i was on lexapro for about 6 months. It
worked great for me. I wasn't worrying
as much while taking the medication. It
took about 2 weeks for it to start
working, though. I didn't have any side
effects, but I did notice I was pretty
tired and had a hard time getting out of
bed in the morning. But other than that,
it worked well. Good luck to you!

work. I had to withdrawl form it and
that was bad. I felt sick all the time.
Now I am on paxil cr, dont like it. It
has made me gain 5 pounds in 4 wks and
dont feel anything either. I think I am
being treated for the wrong dissorder. I
have adult add not anxiety like my dr

Lexapro V. Celexa

I was on 40 mg. Of celexa for 2 years
recently had to stop due to finances and
went into a sever deppression. Tried
zoloft, didn't work. Finally went to a
shrink, she had me try 10 mg. Of
lexapro......Ugh! Side effects were
terrible, only took it for 3 weeks, went
back to the shrink and asked her to put me
back on celexa(40 mg), so she did.......So
much better! It worked for me in the past
so I trusted to get back on it. Don't
want to be a ginni pig tryin too many
med's so I went back for what I knew
worked for me. Anyways, lexapro did not
work for me at all.........Had insomnia
really bad and it really messed with my
head..............But all is better
now.......Thank god!!!!

I took lexapro for a while. I was on it
for depression and bulimia. I had pros
and cons ..
Pros : little or no side effects, unlike
others i've tried.
Cons: it did nothing for my depression.
But, as you know everyone responds
differently. Give it a try ! No side
effects...That's rare ! Also it's a
weight neutral ssri!

Weaning Off Lexapro Need Advice
Posted: 06-25-05 10:30am

Hi. I've been on lexapro for over a year
now. Started with 10mg and saw no
change, and increased to 20 mg and gained
twenty pounds withing, literally, two or
three months. The lexapro works for the
anxiety but I feel as though I don't think
clearly--need to really concentrate on
issues to actually process them. Also, I
am tired all the time. I need some
recommendations on how to wean from the
medication. I've read many horror
stories about this and i've tried to get
off before and couldn't. Please help.
Are there vitamins or other natural things
that can be taken while weaning from the
drug? How should I wean? I thought I
would start by decreasing to 15 mg for a
week, then 10, then 5, and then off.
Suggestions please...

I almost always have a headache, feel
really weak, have pressure in my chest and
very often cannot take a deep breath. I
have lots of reasons to be stressed out,
mainly due to my work.
There are times I feel as if i'm going to
die. My wife insisted I see a therapist.
Although I didn’t like the idea - I
tried 3, all were worthless. I actually
felt ridicules sitting there.
My internist prescribed 10mg lexapro about
4 months ago, other then make me feel
tired for the first 2 months it has done
nothing to relieve my symptoms.
I don't know what to do.

I was on lexapro for about 3 months and am
in the process of getting off. I just
switched to cymbalta so i'm very nervous
to see how that's going to work and
whether i'll lose some of the weight I
gained with lexapro. I gained 15 pounds
in about 2 months and can't do anything to
get it off! It's awful!! I also turned
into a crazy person on lexapro. It really
didn't help my depression. I had been on
prozac for 5 years and loved it but i'm in
a serious relationship and prozac
decreased my libido. So I switched to
lexapro and all of a sudden I remembered
what it was like to be depressed again.
It made me irritable and black out if I
had a couple of drinks and seriuosly be a
crazy person. I'm praying that the
cybalta will work and help me take the
weight off. If not, i'll probably just go
back to prozac.

I too lexapro for almost a year and a half
and it worked very well for me... I was
having panic attacks and mild depression.
I did notice it made me a tiny bit quesy
in the first two weeks, but nothing I
would describe as full on nausea. To
help with the tiredness I took it right
before bed and after that never had any
problems with it. I have been off it for
2 weeks now with no major withdrawl
symptoms... Will keep you updated. If
you are still considering taking it it
would recommend it based on my experience.

I have been taking lexapro for a couple
days now and I really dont like it. I am
taking it for anxiety and it seems to have
made it worse. I feel kinda tired when I
take it but I still have major problems
with getting any sleep due to my anxiety.
I feel real weird on this medication and
stay dizzy and sick to my stomach. I took
zoloft before and that worked for me right
away..I guess these ssri's are different
for everyone.

Lexapro and celexa are basically the same
drug. In fact, if you go to www.Celexa.Com you
will see more about lexapro than you do
celexa.
There isn't anyway you will feel the
results from lexapro in two days, it takes
several weeks for it to work. If you
really feel that sick, then your doctor
must have started you off on too high of a
dosage. 10mg is a good way to start off.
I'm taking celexa myself and I started
off on 5 mg.
But like I was saying, two days worth of
lexapro isn't going to make you sick, it's
probably your mind making yourself feel
this way.

I don't mean to over step our moderators
by any means. But, you statment "Don't
Listen To These People" in my opinion is
uncalled for. That is what this board is
for. Feedback from all our
members,supporters and moderators. I am
sure the the topic poster knows that these
are only experiences by other members and
not to take them to heart.
I myself am on Lexepro and it is working
wonderfully. Please watch how you word
your posts. You could offend a lot of
these poster by what you wrote.
What you said is true though. Everyone is
different and medications will work
differently for all.

I Agree

But we all just have to remember that
those are only the thoughts and input of
others and not necessarily something that
would happen to others. I agree with you
when you say everything works differently
on people. There always will be a good
side from some and a bad side from some.
And those that have taken it (and that
would go for you also) would have to tell
your doc and most likely switch.
Take for intance
Zoloft. That didn't do a darn thing for me
and I was on it for a year before I
realized it. Now that may work great for
some. For me no. When they thought I had
MS my nuero switched me of to Lexepro and
I could not believe the difference. I was
on Xanex for four years and just switched
over to Klonopin. Again wow, I could not
believe how much better I feel.
So yes, you are right. But, just treat the
others as their input. I would just hate
to see someones's feeling hurt by just one
statement. The rest of you post is
absolutly right though.
Hugs,
Carrie
