Nocturnal Seizures And Depresssion/anxiety
Posted: 12-17-04 09:53am

I have had epilepsy for 32 years. I mainly have them at night either when I go off to sleep or when I am about to wake up. They are very brief. Last only a couple of seconds and I am incontenent. I have seizures just about everynight. I am on 300mg of lamictal. 1mg of klonopin and just started zoloft. I have severe depression/anxiety. I have been to so many psy. So many meds and even shock treatment. To this day I am suffering with the depression. I know this is causing me to have the seizures. I need to find the right antidepression drugs combo. Its so hard functioning everyday. Have panic attacks. I exercise and try to go out everyday. Can anyone relate to this!! Or have any suggestions what I should do

I am so sorry you have all this to deal with now! Depression often goes right along with epilepsy.

Some antidepressants do lower the threshold and allow more seizures. Has your neuro worked with the psych to find the best meds for you?

A seizure every night is a lot! My son also has most of his seizures in sleep.

Have you looked into the vagus nerve stimulator at all? You might ask the neuro about that, it helps many with seizures and can also have a real positive help for some with depression....

My heart goes out to you. You are dealing with so much. Please keep pushing docs to help you!
